I had created a topic a while ago about rumors dealing with eating establishments in the local area based upon a lot of prospective and rumored growth coming to the area. The construction of one of the out parcels in front of the new Walmart on Cloverdale road seems to be generating some interest about what's going in there.
I've heard rumors from Zaxby's to a replacement McDonald's and even Steak and Shake. I was actually in Decatur, AL the other week eating at Steak & Shake and ask the manager there about any expansion plans to the west and was taken back that he actually felt like there would be a Steak & Shake in the Florence area before too long a time. I've always felt that if there was any new ones it would be along I65 and that Florence would be the last place that they would look. So I suppose nothing is out of question when it comes to rumors.
What would be a great catalyst for growth and new restaurants, in the area, IF IT WERE TRUE, would be if it transpired that the speculation about the theme park was actually right and that it wasn't just a rumor and someone's suspicion. I still think that even though there was a press conference about it that nothing has been done since that time and that in reality it was just someone's pipe dream and that no amusement park will ever be constructed at least definitely not of the size and magnitude that was laid out in the initial news conference. If it was true and actually going to be built you would have seen construction start somewhere by now, in order to get it finished by the time frame that they initially set out for in their initial announcement.
