Here’s the problem: In the past three years, only 39 students used the Accountability Act to withdraw from failing schools and attend private schools. And that was the purpose of the law, according to lawmakers. Tens of millions of dollars are being drained annually from public schools, but the stated purpose of the law has been fulfilled for only 39 students.

This was from an editorial in the Times Daily today, 10-10-16. It looks like the republican supermajority in Alabama has really fixed the high school problem.

Talk to the teacher's union. I bet I live closer to Tennessee than you live to Alabama and I don't give a flip about Tennessee's schools or politics.

Ya'll might be neighbors.  Best go a north facing window and wave; jt do the same thing to the south.

I doubt that we're neighbors. None of my neighbors are yellow dog demoslops.

The TD has an editorial of the subject, recommending repeal of the law.  The article claims tens of millions are being drained from the schools to support the act.

Perhaps, the TD write an article describing where those millions are being wasted.   If, there are problems with the act, reform it.  As to the number of students, it is a new program.

To condemn students to failing schools is an act of hatred towards the young.  In many cases an act of racial hatred as many of the schools are majority black.
