I don't think any Alabama or Auburn fan ever wishes the other team the best during the Iron Bowl, but sure, I'll be happy for Alabama's success this year if they win another championship. I think a part of every SEC fan is kind of hoping to keep the streak alive even though we still cheer for our own teams, and especially within the state, most of us have friends and family who cheer for the opposite team, so we can always be happy that they're happy.

Sorry to disagree, MeinTeam, but unfortunately there are the Harvey Up****s out there, on both sides, and human natures dictates that.  There are those that generate such hatred and ill feelings concerning the other team and/or fans that it obsesses them and they cannot be different.

I hope more are like us though and are reasonable people when it comes to our sports and learn to enjoy the good times and survive the bad ones.  The kids on the teams, all be it grown men in their own rights, are really still kids and all have such futures ahead of them.  School spirit is great and fan appreciation is driving and thrilling but as I said sadly some fans just do go too far and are too deep in some imagination they carry that they cannot see anything but one color and one team.  Guess that just makes College ball (or Pro) what it is.

I don't think we really disagree. I would argue, though, that despite the haters on both sides, there's also more good will in this rivalry than in others like Ohio State-Michigan, for example, where the fans of both sides don't live in the same state and aren't friends and relatives with each other as much. Even most people who say they hate Auburn or they hate Alabama probably have friends who cheer for those schools. Or maybe I'm just projecting my own experience onto the entire state, since none of my friends are hateful idiots.

I think Chizik is Bama's version of Mike Shula, a great guy with good intentions but clueless when it comes to team management. He assembled one of the best recruiting staffs in the country with a very diverce personality, He also seemed to also go a little overboard as a players coach, with affected team dicipline. But Chizik aside, until Auburn gets rid of Jay Jacobs, Pat Dye and the rest of the old guard that insist on having input in the program, things will not change on the plains.

Auburn had and has talent as does many other teams.  Look at USC's performance this year as an example.  Chizik was not the coach to bring out and utilize that talent base but now they have found the recipe and guy to do what needed to be done.   Just like with Kiffen at USC the talent was there but the right coach (head coach) wasn't to bring out that talent and take advantage of it and allow them to play to their capacity.

A team has to buy in with the Coaches and be motivated property.   On any given Saturday any team has the ability to defeat another depending on how each team is motivated and how each team plays. Alabama was flat against Mississippi State and State was motivated and driven.  A few things made the difference along with the fact that Alabama has a team that is weathered and can last through four quarters and when players get worn down are able to find that inner strength to continue.  That and Coaches that know how to play them that they can remain fresh or semi-fresh.

It will be a great game but anyone could win because talent is rich on both sides.  After all the last four National Championship teams have come from an Alabama School, that's four in a row.
