This varmint has misled us ! Now the Ohio prosecutor has issued an indictment and is calling for the death penalty. We should not let this rodent escape prosecution, but really, does he deserve the death penalty ?

Don't overlook the actual text of this "indictment." It's a hoot!
I will only support his exectuion if he can be later served with sweet potato hash and some nice biscuits. Otherwise, I say let him go, he was probably given bad intelligence and his actions were flawed by information he got from Al Gore.
There may be vigilantes afoot--the body of one of his country cousins has been lying near the Colbert side of O'Neal Bridge for about a week.
I thinkl he should get off with time served. The little critter has been in that Punxatowney jail where they keep him for several years. Assuming he has been on good behavior other than the recent unfortunate lapse in weather predicting, justice would be best served tempered with a little mercy.
