Bluesman, I can understand your frustrations, being sick of politics, and I know you may laugh a little bit because that's all I seem to post here lately. Let's take a couple of your subjects, gambling, religion, and church. Whether you know it or not, those three subjects deal with politics. Church is not just about religion anymore. It's loaded with politics. Take a high school football game, it's sad to say but it's loaded with politics. Your everyday life deals with religion and politics in some way, fashion, or form. You have to think about who runs the show, whether it be your employer, church, gambling joint, or just a football game. I'm not trying to be ugly, but if more people would get involved, you can change things. And the way you change things is you educate people. For an example, you would like to see gambling legalized in Alabama. Then you need to educate people why we need it and bring it up for a vote again. So it all boils down to educating people. That's why, even though you may not believe the way I do or I may not believe the way you do, we should listen to each others views and respect each others views and discuss in a civil manner as to why we disagree. We need to look at things with both eyes instead of one eye. Pretend that if you were on a jury, to be fair, you would have to look and listen to both views. I think you get my point. Anyway, think about it at least.

PBA--that's just it -- you don't get it. Politics affects EVERYTHING, but only to the degree that you let it. I choose not too. Others choose not to. I go to church to worship God -- my pastor preaches on morals and things the Bible adheres too, but the only thing he says is vote with your heart -- if your heart is in the right place that is all you can do. I go to a high school football to watch my nephew play football--I don't go to see the politicians and I don't take their fliers because that is not what I'm there for -- they can come, but it is my choice. I don't really think gambling is a true issue, but others seem to want to make it an issue because they are attaching it to our school system. If we would just use the money that is alotted -- WISELY -- we wouldn't need gambling.

Some things are simple. This is simple. We are already sick of politics and it is not even election time again. You continuously shove this political agenda stuff at us and I know you think you are doing your part to eductate, but you are pushing a lot of propaganda and I know you can't see that you are not doing anyone any favors. It is not your job to educate me on politics...it is MY job to educate myself -- by doing the research about a candidate for myself -- researching the issues for myself...I didn't hire you so I can't fire you but you are not a very good teacher. When someone argues a point with you -- you throw more propaganda at them and then when they shoot it down you get mad and childish about it and start the name-calling and condescending remarks. You can't admit when you are wrong--you just continue to beat the dead horse. If there was a chance to sway my vote for the democrats or the liberals or however you want to term it -- you would be one of the reasons I would vote the other way. You turn me off of politics in so many ways. And I hate that because it seems to be a passion of yours, but you go at it with such an angle that I want to run the other way.

I am sick of politics--it may be an underlying part of everyday life, but it is not something I choose to acknowledge or allow to overtake my life.

I would like to know you outside of the political stuff -- who knows I might like you more.

I actually agree here... Everyone is starting POLITICS way too soon!!! There is LIFE to lead right here, right now...

I think that Elections should ONLY allow "politicing" ONE MONTH BEFORE any said election... That should be a LAW to keep normal people from doing nothing BUT think Politics all the time...

I am swearing OFF the political scene as much as possible for the next year!! lol

I just looked and it seems that not only have I posted about gambling, religion and church, there were also info. on country music, health, gas prices, law, gun rights, insurance, alternative medicine, illegal aliens, divorce rates, prescription drugs prices, a little humor, and etc., just a little mixture of all.
Politics is what creates goverrnment in a Democratic Republic.
Government affects everything.
I guess that sick of politics is really seeking sea change in Government.
Well, cleaning up after disasters is not the most fun you can have on an afternoon, but, it has to be done.

I think the complaint was there are too many elections. I wonder how a democracy would work with NO elections. Government is subdivided in a Republic. You have the City, County, State and Federal as the Big divisions. Then School Districts, legislative districts, house districts and so on. If there were four election days, Say second Tuesday of November for national offices...President, Senate and House of Representatives, 2nd Tuesday of February for Governor, State Legislature, Courts. 2nd Tuesday of May for the Counties, Sheriff, Justice Courts, county Commissioners, and 2nd Tuesday of August for City Council, school boards, any other local elected offides.

It would simplify the system, might bring some clarity to the offices involved, and perhaps increase participation. It would also tend to create a three month campaign period. The plan does not allow for primary elections unless you were to alternate the years the elections were in. So in Even years you would have National and County Elections, with the Primary on the date of the State and Local Elections, In odd years just the State and Local elections, with primaries on the National and Local dates.
