Those entertaining the silly prospect that this goofball could be a viable candidate for governor can now pack it up. In addition to not being of even average brightness, Barkley is obviously morally degenerate. We can do a lot better in Alabama. Hey, Charles, I know Bill Riley, and you ain't any Bill Riley. Heck, you ain't even any Don Siegelman. Maybe you are more like Harold Guy Hunt, the sorriest sleazebag to occupy the governor's office in recent years. Hunt wasn't drunk with booze. He WAS drunk with power, though, and it cost him dearly. And yes, he was pardoned, but I have read the statements from the Board of Pardons and Paroles, among which it is noted that he had, "made restitution to his victims." So that "pardon" does not confer any degree of innocence. Hunt had VICTIMS. You have all heard of "victimless crimes." But under the laws of Alabama, there ain't any crimeless victims.

Some drunks can perform remarkably well. William Faulkner reportedly was always at least a bit juiced up when he took pen in hand. At least one renowned Alabama football coach made liberal use of the old hooch. Guess who?

None of this justifies driving under the influence, which is an enormously socially irresponsible action, subjecting one's fellow man and woman (and children too) to unnecessary risk of injury or death. Shame on the round--and steadily getting rounder--mound of rebound!

How many drinks does it take for a 300-pound man to get to 0.08? Answer: more than "a couple."

Guy Hunt took money from his 1987 inaugural account and used it to buy marble showers and lawnmowers. What a horrible, sleazy man! That is the most dispicable thing I've ever heard of in politics! Even worse than a recent president who gave away our missile technology to communist china in exchange for campaign contributions! Or the president-elect authorizing organizations to go out and subvert the voter registration process! Why didn't he just use it to buy dope or bribe Alvin Holmes or buy senate seats? Something positive like that. beternu maybe they should give you the breath test and see how high on the BS meter you score. I'm afraid they would have to buy a new meter. Cool

What Hunt did was more than that. He looted a 501(c)(3)account--which is established as a federal tax free account dedicated to a defined purpose. Then he crassly and egregiously took money from that account and used it for a purpose not established in the account, namely to enrich himself and his family with clothes, furntiture and, if I remember correctly, a tractor. What he did was to pervert the legal use of that account to an ILLEGAL use that benefited himself and other Hunt family members. It is called corruption. It is called greed. It is not trivial as you seem to want to make it.

In a prior role as an employee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Hunt ran into big trouble for submitting falsified claims for travel reimbursement. He was given a choice of either resigning his position or staying in office and facing prosecution. He cut and ran. This "Guy" has been a pretty sleazy character. Your effort to soft-pedal his offenses is pretty lame.

Lady, compared to what present and past defacrat politicians are doing and have done, Guy Hunt spit on the sidewalk. Razzer

I am not a lady, kperk and that is not all you have wrong. It gets very, very tiresome to see how you and others so predictably try to downplay even egregious breaches of the public trust as those perpetrated by the scheming and larcenous weasel, Guy Hunt. The man STOLE from his so-called "inaugural account" to buy goodies for himself and his family! What did furniture and farm equipment have to do with his inauguration? NOTHING! His actions constituted violation of the professed terms of that account by looting it to pay for things clearly not authorized. If a Democrat had done those things, you and other angry losers would be all over his case. Your attitude is the perfect example of a double standard.

Mam, I didn't mean to mistake you for a lady. We know you probably had to change your panties daily listening to all the defacrat women coming out of the woodwork to accuse bull clinton of sexual harrassment, sexual assault and rape. Add on giving our ballistic missile technology to communist china in exchange for campaign money, and bilking the taxpayers of Arkansas out of $millions; and I'll bet you were trembling with excitement. Your kind of bad boy, eh beternu? Why don't you just stay over on the politics forum and leave sports to men and pretty ladies.
