"In Montgomery, Sen. Gerald Allen, R-Tuscaloosa, is trying this week to shepherd his gun-rights bill toward passage. If that happens, Alabamians could carry loaded guns in their cars without a permit. Smart people who deal every day with guns and bad people — Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson, for instance — are convinced this is an awful idea. It would make law enforcement’s already difficult job more dangerous, they say. And they’re right."

Nope, they're wrong.  This type of freedom is already present in many states that surround Alabama and all the dire predictions made by libtards like yourself have never materialized.  Texas is already calling it's new gun rights laws a non-event after becoming effective.

Police can easily determine if a person is a felon and is not allowed to possess a gun.  If they don't have ID on them, then they are driving illegally anyway.  There is absolutely no reason for a law abiding citizen to be required to have a "permit" for a constitutional right.  Its nothing more than a tax that the sherriff dept's have become dependent on.
