Wow!! Just wow!! A meal at Stanfield’s River Bottom Grill yesterday for slip renters and friends was fabulous. The place is beautiful inside with new dÉcor and the food is unbelievable. There will be the place to go for sea food and other great dishes. Desserts are to die for. The Italian CrÈme Kaack was out of this world. And the service was superb. The cooks were clean, neat and prepared excellent dishes. The beautiful waitresses and neat waiters all with cold black hair , black attire and mesh sports jerseys with the #13 and RBG on the back [ I’ve got to have one] accented with the blonde hair of the lovely manager assisted by the owners: her beautiful mother and class act dad were friendly and professional.

Thanks to the Stanfields’

You raving revue is that this place is all great, how about giving us a little info on what items are on the menu? Prices?

You keep that up and I might learn to like you after all! LOL!

If a slip renter with a 45-foot lake cruisin' luxury boat can't afford to eat at a restaurant, then he/she needs to sell the boat and reorganize his/her finances.

I would also add that if you have a "boat payment" then you probably should not have a boat.

I don't have a boat, work/own a marina, work for an ad agency, and I am not related to the owners. I just like to eat!

What's sinister about saying the food was awful? It was, at both places.

Again... it's just a restaurant. If I don't like the food, I say so. The people that work there, the boaters that rent the slips, or the "beautiful" people have nothing to do with my opinion of the food served. I either like it or I don't. Of course this is making me hungry!

I was talking about the other two places. Read my post again.

I didn't mean for that to sound like it was directed at you, QD. Sorry about that.

Saw the menu.  WHAT? No catfish!!!  Who do these people think they are??!! it is downright heretical to open a full-service restaurant in The Shoals and not offer CATFISH!!

Horrors!

Just havin' some fun, folks.  Good luck to anyone brave enough to offer good (we expect) steak and seafood without duplicating what everyone else tries to do.

The topic starter isn't exactly known for being of a sound mind or for telling the truth about anything. His hypocrisy knows no bounds. He plays the innocent Christian on one forum and will cuss you and use that nasty, potty mouth and stalk you on another one using one of his hundreds of screen names.

Take anything the man says with a grain of salt.
You may be right but mark my words you'll be seeing this man on the evening news one day soon unless he gets some help. There is something very wrong in this man's head. He has a lot of people fooled for the moment but it can't last forever. Some of the things I've read over the years that he's posted online in various local forums tells me this dude is not well mentally and that he's a ticking timebomb...

When he's confronted about any of it seems to be when the crazy gates open wide.

Time will tell. Stay tuned.

So, mental illness runs in his family? Not surprising.

BACK TO THE SUBJECT OF THIS POST, please people.  Get out of the kiddie's sandbox!  We ate at

River Bottom Grille by Stanfield's for the first time last night.  Not really all that spectacular but it was good enough and we will go back.  They were very busy, even on a Tuesday night.  Prices were reasonable and food was good.  No complaints about service.

The atmosphere is nice, the place look like a seaside shanty should look.  The food was good.  The service was slow and inattentive. So for me, the service was the only weak point int he chain.  They did not appear to be that busy when we were there, it was early for the dinner crowd, so I would not have expected it to be the case.

otherwise, it was a welcome treat, and the food was very good.

While everyone else seems totally enamored with Stanfields new River Bottom Grille, and I must say that we had some good meals there, our last meal wasn't the best.  We ordered the 14 oz and a 10 oz Ribeye steak and both steaks were ordered medium temp and arrived medium but both steaks were tough to cut and also were tough to eat.   It wasn't a very good Ribeye steak and certainty not as good as what we have gotten from their Ford City Location.  Everyone deserves a second chance but I guess this just proves they are human and can make some mistakes.  As for the sides and the salads they were good but hopefully they can improve on the Steaks next time.

We decided to check it out last Saturday. This turned out to be a huge mistake. We expected them to be working out the kinks so we came into the situation with a very open mind When they told us we would have an hour wait, we thought "okay, it's a nice night out by the water, we'll wait" and we did. We waited and waited--we were a party of 9 so we agreed to split up if that would make the seating open any quicker. After an hour passed we checked in at the desk just to see how much longer and to remind them that we were fine with being split up--they were "getting our table together" right that second so it shouldn't be long. We hung around by the door near the podium and checked back again after 15 more minutes. After an hour and 40 minutes (I know, I know most would have thrown in the towel at that point but we KNEW as soon as we left our table would be ready) we came back and asked about our table--well, they sat another large group at our table without realizing it--now they had our cell number (that is how they buzz you to your table) but never called us so I'm not sure how they got us confused with the other party. We were seated shortly after that at three separate 4-tops all next to each that hadn't been pulled together for us so we did it ourselves.

No kid's menu?!?!? I've never heard of this. If my 7 year old wanted chicken tenders it would have been $9 and much more food than she could have eaten but luckily we talked her into a baked potato

Our poor waitress was overworked and not all that experienced, I do not believe,  but she was sweet and did her best. The tortilla chips that came with our dip were not cooked and over half of the basket was limp and loaded with grease. My brother ordered grilled shrimp with his steak and they came out fried (this was not the waitress's fault as she did put grilled on the ticket) and then the runner who brought them out made it clear that he didn't want to make it right by explaining that it would take a "long time" to get the grilled shrimp out to my brother.

After ALLLLL of that we had had enough. It was getting comical. We asked for a manager and she was very interested in seeing the chips and the shrimp. She apologized, quickly brought out a grilled shrimp skewer and did take the dips off of our order.

I know this was their first weekend so we will give them another chance down the road but probably not on a weekend night. This experience took us 3 hours and I do have to take some of the blame for not leaving after they sat someone else at our table but we had high hopes that that would be the worst of it.

No don't think I mistakenly ordered the boat fender steak but that's apparently what we ended up with.  Our ticket was in excess of $40.00 and one reason was that as betsygirl alluded to, and I agree totally, they have a lack of a kids menu a gross oversight for any restaurant that seeks to serve families so we had to order the 10 oz RIbeye steak for our 5 yr old and 9 yr old which they did split it and both ate maybe two bites claiming it was not a good steak.  Even the kids knew.   We didn't have to wait in line but due to the crowd we kept having different servers and runners bringing things to the table and our complaints, about the steak, were not heeded by anyone server or manager.

I'll most likely give them another chance but IF I'm going to go for steak and have the choice between Stanfields or Ohh Bryans, which is a very similar restaurant and offerings I'll choose Ohh Bryan's in Tuscumbia anytime.  The greatest offering of the River Bottom Grille is going to be the atmosphere and location, especially when I'm out on the boat and want to grab a bite to eat.  For me Lunch is a much better deal so we'll see how they do.
