Latest email disclosure is just more proof that Clinton lied
Taxpayers helped foot the bill for Hillary Clinton’s private email server and helped financially support the Clinton Foundation, a new report finds.
The Politico report, based on government records disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act, revealed that yearly payments of $10,000 from the federal government helped purchase IT equipment — including servers — and helped fund aides who serviced that equipment.
Justin Cooper, one of the aides who helped set up Hillary Clinton’s controversial email system, was at times on the government payroll between 2011 and 2013. Cooper has also done work with the Clinton Foundation and Teneo, the corporate consultancy founded by Clinton aides Doug Band and Declan Kelly.
Band himself even received taxpayer funds until 2013, the report finds. His top-flight firm Teneo launched in 2011.
Politico also finds that the Clinton Foundation’s chief operating officer, Laura Graham, was on the government payroll as well.
On Sept. 16, 2011, the government purchased a $7,707.98 Dell server. On Aug. 2, 2011, the government purchased an Apple Mac mini with Lion Server for $1,284.95. Both were shipped to the Clinton Foundation, according to invoices.
Former presidents are provided $96,600 per year by the US government for staffing expenses. The money is spent at the discretion of the ex-president.
The Clinton Foundation states on its website that “All Foundation employees are paid for work through the Foundation payroll. As a former President, President Clinton has separately allocated funding for a private office and for associated costs (rent, utilities, and salaries and benefits for staff). No Foundation staff are paid for Foundation work with taxpayer dollars.”
But this latest report suggests that is not true.
“[T]here is no legal prohibition that would preclude the former president’s staff from receiving compensation from other sources or doing personal work for the former presidents. We are unaware of any legal prohibition that would preclude these activities,” a Clinton aide told Politico.
