One of the saddest parts to this story are some of the comments about the kid. What a world we are living in.

A teen died playing chicken when he failed to leap out of the path of an oncoming train in time.

Austin Price, a 15-year-old student at San Lorenzo High School, was struck and killed by a northbound Capitol Corridor train when he and two other boys were on the tracks at 6 pm on Thursday. The town I grew up in had a switch yard for one of the major railroads, and two sets of tracks through downtown.  Needless to say there were many sets of tracks around and about the area.

We were taught a much more healthy respect for trains and train crossings than these kids seem to have been taught.  It's too bad for this kid's sake.  The odd thing is that no one ever seems to feel sorry for the engineer that has to watch as an idiot uses his train for a suicide mission.

I feel bad for all involved, and the saddest part are the sick comments, just like contendah's comment. As one person said to one of the idiots making fun of the kid, maybe next time it will be a member of your family that makes a stupid mistake, then everyone can make fun of them, say they deserved it, and call them a candidate for the darwin award. Playing chicken with a train isn't the only dumb thing people do that gets them killed, or causes someone else to die.

The Internet seems to bring out the worst in some people. We've seen it time and time again on this very forum.  From narcissistic preachers to brain damaged trolls that just won't leave.

It's a part of the Internet that I hate but continue to tolerate.

Maybe not the very dumbest thing, but very high up on the list, Bestworking.
