Listener Called to Warn of Potential Danger

Very interesting. I had no idea that one could die from water intoxication.

Those who came up with this contest should be held responsible. It appears from the excerpts of the show tape that they were well aware of what could happen and that they disregarded that risk.

The radio station is at fault too, because they presumably knew of the contest and did nothing to stop it.

The thing that makes this even MORE tragic is that a nurse, listening to the broadcast called the station and warned them that water intoxication can happen with the rules of the contest, and they blew her off with a statement about the contestants signing a paper to not hold the station responsible for anything connected with the contest.... Guess they FORGOT that the family isn't bound by that piece of paper.

Yes, the people who participated int he contest are responsible to some degree for what happened to them. However, the radio station and the hosts are also to blame. Any court award should take this into account.

Actually, UNLESS, the contract, or release forms STATED that you may get water intoxication and DIE from this stunt, then NO, it is not the contestant's fault.

It is strictly the fault of the show for not doing their homework to SEE what damages it would or could cause people.

BIG BUSINESS gets by with stuff like this because people always want to take their side... but HEY, there is a woman dead here!!! A woman, who joined a contest HOPING to win a playstation for her children... so a very selfless woman at that, a Mom and probably a wife.

Legalities say her family can seek justice for her untimely death.
