Tennessee Volunteers --- time to cut bait or fish

It's an old saying, "to cut bait or fish" but essentially it comes down to 2016 for the Tennessee Volunteers and Coach Butch Jones.  Fresh off Butch Jones half million dollar raise, as Head Coach of the Volunteers Butch has fired his old Defensive Coordinator and secured a new one from Penn State but ore to the point his "young team" is now seasoned and he's got his veteran Quarterback along with working with his recruits and there are now no excuses left for Tennessee and why they don't win the SEC East and even ascend back into the higher echelon of the NCAA College Football ranks.

I honestly do like Tennessee but I'm an Alabama Crimson Tide fan but like everyone else I know of a rabid over zealous Tennessee Volunteer fan whose very quick to tell you that Tennessee's back and this is the year they prove it.  I do think that this coming year Tennessee has it's long coming chance to regain the SEC East title and quite possibly a ticket to a final four game.

One obstacle that's been constant for Tennessee has been the Florida Gators and until Tennessee can get over that hurdle, really, it's just all hype and wishes.  2016 is the year I believe Tennessee cancels Florida's run of success over the Vols and  Tennessee better hope that is the case because it's not going to get any easier for Butch Jones and Tennessee.   The reason I  say that is because I truly believe that Kirby Smart will restore Georgia back into the driver's seat of the SEC East and once he gets his recruits in along with his experience at Alabama I look for Georgia to become the next permanent obstacle for Tennessee to overcome.  2016 may just be the year that Tennessee has to continue to win over Georgia but I'm afraid that with Kirby Smart that window of opportunity will be closing fast.   So I believe with an improving Georgia team, new blood at South Carolina and the new Coach at Florida Tennessee has a very narrow window of opportunity to shine and this is the best opportunity comingup.

Tennessee Fans are not going to be too forgiving for 4th quarter blunder calls and allowing 4th quarter comebacks, something that surely got the recent DC fired and replaced.  Butch Jones has his recruits and his half million dollar raise but an abscense of an SEC East title and failure to win the East or compete in the final four for next years  National Championship may just put Butch Jones on the hot seat and secure him a place on the coaching carousel for 2017.  The folks at Tennessee aren't going to be too forgiving of a half million dollar raise when it isn't met with fulfilled expectations.
