I just wanted to say Thank You Obama. Now that you have instilled your Obama Care into our house holds, my insurance will no longer pay for my bp medicine I have been taking now for 10 years. It will also no longer pay for ANY of the medicine I am currently taking and the insurance company sent along lists of those in the same family that they will NO longer pay for. In talking with my doctor, she says it is only going to get worse and that I should see it from her side. If you would just come down here, I am sure we all could show you just how much we appreciate you and your crap. I know I would.

Harley,

I know how you feel. Can you buy generics out of pocket for less?

Contrary to the moaning about drugs from Canada, they are just as good as the stuff you get here. Check into it online. The legit ones will require a medical prescription just like any pharmacy. Stay away from the ones that use drugs from India or overseas.

To compare one med, it was $1300 a month here, $80 for three months there.

As do all the republicans in Washington. And the independents. And taxpayers pay for it, we always have. And I don't know of any of those folks in Washington asking for any reductions in THEIR gravy trains (and I believe there are many trains!) no matter who the president was or which party controlled Congress. If, by some miracle, someone did the others would just vote it down.

All of them lie. We just vote for the lies we find the most palatable and hope for the best.
Don't forget to checkout Sam's Club drug prices:

Obama should have simply offered the insurance system used by the federal work force, sans the civil service rules. The admin costs are small, all conditions are covered and all age groups pay the same. A number of national and state insurance providers participate and you can tailor your desired level of care. Some are inexpensive and some not.

Instead of thanking President Obama for the increase (although this is really your insurance company simply ripping you off since the law hasn't even gone into effect yet) you should be thanking the Rethuglicans and Dems in thug clothing for keeping the insurance companies happy with the bill. The plan Elintfilter is referring to is EXACTLY what was in the original proposal with a public option until the thugs and demthugs killed it.

Kmart also has similar list of affordable drugs. My husband has to take heart medication, we have no insurance but his doctor understands our situation. With her help and her willingness to look for drugs on those lists, we've been able to keep our cost under control. Just recently she rewrote a prescription and saved us well over $100 a month.

But the democrats are the ones that voted for obama care. They also excluded themselves from this scam. Not one true Republican voted for it.
No generic for this drug. If I pay, it's 185.00 out of pocket a month. I don't and will not allow some drug company such as Medco, tell me the medicine they want me to take. That's between my doctor and me. Not some penny pincher trying to cut their costs down. They have paid for the past 10 years for this and even paid up until last month. So it has to be associated in some way with the new healthcare bill. I'll be glad when we have another change. A change for the better and not this change where we all go bankrupt to support his butt and ideas.

NO! It wasn't. The Republicans had no input into the bill. Pelosi bypassed the entire committee route in writing and passing the bill.

Rocky, you better quit smoking that stuff. I hear it kills brain cells, it may be too late already. Parts of the law HAVE gone into affect. The bill was passed exactly how the Democrats wanted it. They passed it without any Republican votes.

Elintfilterwindbag: I am not even going to rehash the disaster that was the healthcare debate. The whole problem was the democrats TRYING to include the lackeys of the insurance companies (Rethuglicans) on committees and letting the Dems in thug clothing derail what should have been universal care. I realize you are of the camp that I have mine to hell with everyone else as are most of the good Christian folks who post on this right wing teabag forum, BUT the stupidity of the original poster is funny as hell. The idiot is *****ing about his prescription drug coverage that was an unfunded mandate passed by Bush and cronies for the benefit of the insurance companies and like everything else, is trying to blame it on the Dems and President Obama. It will be funny to watch the change in this forum IF the thugs take back the congress and the **** really hits the fan.

And your benevolent insurance company is raising rates because of the terrible health care bill that was passed and will get them millions of new customers? ****, just how much tainted tea are you people going to drink??? I like to watch the You Tube videos of teabaggers trying to pontificate at their rallys. Shows the intelligence level you are dealing with and reflected in the posts on this forum.

There are many kinds of blood pressure medications on the market and it is probable that if your doctor and you would really work on it you would find a generic that would be adequate to treat your condition. Or check with another doctor--could be that your doctor has been brainwashed by the pharmaceutical rep pushing a particular medication.
I don't think any doctor is 'brainwashed'. They know how expensive mediation is as well. In the past, they could override what the insurance would allow, now they cannot.
This happened before Obamacare even started, but has increased significantly because of it.

But just in case:

Is Your Doctor On Big Pharma’s Payroll?

The next time you go to a doctor and he prescribes an really expensive new drug when an old cheap generic is available, you may want to check out this amazing database that ProPublica and various partners have created. You can search it to see whether your doctor is receiving drug company money to give speeches and talks to other doctors that help promote brand-name drugs.

Some obscure doctors make $100,000 or more a year from this lucrative sideline. Various drug companies are now required to report how much they pay doctors, often as part of various legal settlements. But they often do it in a way that makes it hard to search for useful information, unless you already know exactly what you are look. ProPublica has assembled this data in an easy to search way, with a list of the doctors in America receiving the most drug company money.

ProPublica took another step–one that apparently drug companies like Eli Lilly and Cephalon didn’t bother to do–and checked state medical board web sites for disciplinary actions against some of the highest earners. Sure enough, it turned out that some of the “key opinion leaders” drug companies were paying a bundle had problems in their past. One top earning anesthesiologist for Cephalon had been kicked out of a hospital for conducting vaginal and rectal exams without a clear reason. Another doc on the Lilly payroll was cited for doing unnecessary nerve tests on patients.

It is a nice example of the kind of investigative journalism that combines real stories and smart web-based data presentation that we need more of.

(Note: A previous version said that Merck is one of the companies that is required to report its numbers as a result of a settlement. It reports the numbers voluntarily.)

I have no wish to rehash the healthcare debate, only point out the misstatements made.

Rocky,

If you wish to made your point effectively, I suggest you learn to write in an intelligible manner. With the above, you destroyed any effective point you might have made.

You remind me of another former poster, Pogo, who would descend to a lower level of communication, when flustered.

Agreed, my blood pressure medicine costs about $100 for a 90-day supply if purchase OTC. Medco provides a generic at no cost for the first 180- days, $6.67 for the next 90-days and $10.00 for the last 90-days. I've used it for 11-years, quite effectively.

Rocky IS that lower level of communication. He gets his news from youtube.
What ever happened to Pogo anyway? It's been a while since I've seen him on here.

By the way, I recently learned first hand about how Obama has helped the average working folks.

I'm in the process of refinancing our home to get a lower rate. I won't go into all the details, but we're going with an FHA because it's a better deal. It would have been an even better deal, but the MIP (mortgage insurance, like PMI on a conventional) went up from .5% to 1%.

That went into effect this month as part of Obama's 2000+ page health care bill.

I guess that's part of the "change" that so many people voted for.
