Hi to all my Forum Friends,

IF YOU ARE A CIVIL WAR BUFF - you must watch this miniseries.  For many years I have been an avid Civil War buff and have read Bruce Catton's trilogy "The Army Of The Potomac," John Jakes' "North And South Trilogy" - read Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team Of Rivals" twice, and have read many other books on the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln.

I have watched "Gone With The Wind" so many times I have lost track, watched its sequel "Scarlett" and read the book - and saw the John Jakes' "North And South" miniseries several times.

But, for some reason I had missed this "The Blue And Gray" miniseries until I stumbled upon it late last night on YouTube.  Last night I watched Part 1 and today I watched Parts 2 and 3 -- and I highly recommend it.

For me, this miniseries shows shows the Civil War from the view point of both North and South - and shows that war, with all its warts, from both sides of the issue.  It takes almost seven hours to watch all three parts.  But, if that period of American history holds a fascination for you as it does me, you will enjoy it and learn from it.

From the Video Notes:

The Blue and the Gray is a television miniseries that first aired on CBS in three installments on November 14, November 16, and November 17, 1982.  Set during the American Civil War, the series starred John Hammond, Stacy Keach, Lloyd Bridges, and Gregory Peck as President Abraham Lincoln.

One of the most compelling, thoughtful and comprehensive Civil War films ever produced.  And based on the works of Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Catton, "The Blue & The Gray" is recognized for its historic accuracy, dramatic intensity and spectacular battle sequences.

Bill
