Flint, MI, like so many of our large cities suffered from a calamity similar to conquest and occupation of European cities by the Axis. Except instead of 5 or 6 years, Flint suffered from a soft tyranny of Democrat control for decades. The problem was caused by decades of Democrat misrule. The Democrat city government made the decision to use water from the Flint River The financial emergency manager appointed by the governor was a Democrat. The EPA Regional Manager, a Democrat political appointee, sat on the information for six months.

Recently, the TD carried an opinion article that stated there was no cure for lead poisoning. That is not correct. Chelation has been used to clear heavy metals, including lead from a person’s system for decades.

Flint’s first financial emergency.

From Wiki:

“First financial emergency: 2002–2004[edit]

By 2002, Flint had accrued $30 million in debt.[25]

On March 5, 2002, the city's voters recalled mayor Woodrow Stanley. A few months later, on May 8, the state of Michigan appointed an emergency financial manager,[26] Ed Kurtz. The emergency financial manager displaced the temporary mayor, Darnell Earley, in the city administrator position.”  But, it would not be its last.

Second financial emergency: 2011–

On September 30, 2011, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder appointed an eight-member review team to review Flint's financial state with a request to report back in 30 days (half the legal time for a review).[33] On November 8, 2011, Mayor Dayne Walling defeated challenger Darryl Buchanan 8,819 votes (56%) to 6,868 votes (44%).[34] That same day, the Michigan State review panel declared the City of to be in the state of a "local government financial emergency" recommending the state again appoint an Emergency Manager.[35] On November 14, the City Council voted 7 to 2 to not appeal the state review with Mayor Walling concurring the next day.[36] Governor Snyder appointed Michael Brown as the city's Emergency Manager on November 29, effective December 1.[37] On December 2, Brown dismissed a number of top administrators including City Administrator Gregory Eason, Human Resources Director Donna Poplar, Citizen Services Director Rhoda Woods, Green City Coordinator Steve Montle and independent officials including Ombudswoman Brenda Purifoy and Civil Service Commission Director Ed Parker. Pay and benefits from Flint's elected officials were automatically removed.[38] On December 8, the office of Obudsman and the Civil Service Commission were eliminated by Brown.:”   In other words, the governor obeyed the law.

“Before the appointment of the (Democratic) emergency manager, Flint’s elected mayor and city council (Democrats) had decided to sever the city’s relationship with its drinking-water supplier, which was at the time the Detroit water authority. Flint intended to join a regional water authority that would pipe water in from Lake Huron, a project that was scheduled to take three years to come online. In a fit of pique, Detroit (a city under unitary Democratic control) immediately moved to terminate Flint’s water supply, leaving the city high and literally dry.” Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/...t-lead-water-scandal

Got that, Contenduhh, the Democrat city government severed the contract with Detroit, not the governor.

Moore: “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency must take over matters from the state…’

Trouble is, the EPA knew about the problem for at least six months, and sat on the information.

“The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s top Midwest official said her department knew as early as April about the lack of corrosion controls in Flint’s water supply — a situation that likely put residents at risk for lead contamination — but said her hands were tied in bringing the information to the public.

Starting with inquiries made in February, the federal agency battled Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality behind the scenes for at least six months over whether Flint needed to use chemical treatments to keep lead lines and plumbing connections from leaching into drinking water. The EPA did not publicize its concern that Flint residents’ health was jeopardized by the state’s insistence that such controls were not required by law.

Instead of moving quickly to verify the concerns or take preventative measures, federal officials opted to prod the DEQ to act, EPA Region 5 Administrator Susan Hedman told The Detroit News this week. Hedman said she sought a legal opinion on whether the EPA could force action, but it wasn’t completed until November.

EPA said their hands were tied – by whom?  It would have to be at the federal level.  Since when has the EPA considered state law as anything but a minor obstacle?

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) top Midwest official. Susan Hedman, resigned in January. She was an Obama political appointee.

I put the above together while viewing Part 1 of the Bernie Madoff story.  He ripped off investors for $50 billion.  Bernie is a Democrat.  Any Democrat politician would consider him a piker.

Repeatedly, warnings were made to the SEC about Bernie. However the warnings were ignored.  The person warning used mathematical analysis to explain the scam.. The SEC Is mostly lawyers, quite competent in finding that someone failed to file a form or did not meet federal regulations.  However, present them with anything mathematical more complicated than billable hours and they're deer in the headlights,
