It was said earlier:  I have told you that Mariology is not Biblical.  I have told you that purgatory is not Biblical.  I have told you that the Eucharist is not Biblical. I have told you that Papal Authority and Infallibility are not Biblical.

And I have repeatedly proven that they are ALL Biblical.  All come from Sacred Scripture.

Praised be Jesus forever!!!

Just because they are in a sacred book does not mean they are real.  Remember these books were written by guys (and gals) just like us, minus about 2000 years (or up to 6000) of scientific, cultural and religious evolution.

If a sacred book says the world is flat for long generations otherwise right thinking men and women will swear that the world is flat...

Best to keep religion in proper perspective, as one of the three essential stools of balanced human existance (along with science and philosophy).  Lean too hard on any one, or remove any from the balance and the personality becomes unbalanced.

You Billie, have demonstrated repeatedly that you are full of hatred, in particular, of all things Catholic, and in general, of anyone who disagrees with you. You constantly try to belittle others in this forum, especially women... Fortunately, the vast majority of the forum readers know you for what you are and you make little headway... You are arrogant beyond belief -- an example of this arrogance is your blatant posting of off topic subject matter, the most recent of which was posted today -- a long winded treatise of your love life! I pity you, Billie! You have a huge shock awaiting you...

Here comes another Vic! What you say in this public forum is of concern to me and other forum readers... Dove.

It's not that I'm oppsed to Athiests visiting and even comenting on this forum, what I do have a problem with is the attacking of comments that the Chrsitians post on hear. It's OK to be curious as to why Christians think the way they do and vice versa. But because of the athiest failure to believe in Christ, where does that give you the right to belittle those who do? And don't tell me that doen't take place! I read posts on this forum for quite sometime before I ever started posting on it, and the most of the hate I see is mocking people for believing in a higher power and believing that there is a greater place to go when we pass to the other side. Besides, I'm of the philosphy that if I'm wrong for believing and Athiests are right, then they're right and I'm wrong. But, if I'm right and they're wrong, then I'm going to a better place and they will burn. That seems to be what chaps Atheists the most, what if they're wrong, in my opinion.

It wouldn't do you much good to be opposed to atheists visiting and commenting as you put it, since we do have that right. Not believing in your god is in no way a "failure". I guess the atheists right to "belittle" as you put it-comes from the same place that gives so called christians their right to belittle atheists and others that don't believe like they do. And you certainly don't know anything about atheists if you think they worry about "burning" after they're dead.

Best this is exactly why I called Atheists posers! if your not worried about burning, then why even come to this forum? It has no purpose for you other than to argue with God fearing people. I'm sorry that you don't believe in a higher power, but it doesn't give any of you the right to come on a Religion forum to try and debunk the beliefs that's posted by Christians.

Oh brother!

You coulda summed all that up in one word: WAAAAH!

You call yourself a practical thinker AND 'god-fearing???'

Talk about a poseur!!!!

I initially came to this forum as an atheist-leaning agnostic to see how on earth supposedly 'intelligent' people could allow themselves to be suckered into such superstition.

Now it's pretty much just entertainment.

The more I see people haggling over whose version of The Great Pumpkin and all his magical, mystical minions, the less I believe anybody has any real 'intelligence.'

Sure, I'm not college educated-Hell, I'm not even fully high school educated-but I know BS when I see it.

I don''t care what kind of degree you have in whatever.....If you tell me in one breath how educated you are and then in the next go on about your ancient sheep herder's myth-there's no way I'm going to believe you're educated. Educated people know why things happen. They don't have to blame things on invisible skydaddies.

Heh....

Just like Best, I'd call believing in myths a 'failure..'

Didja ever notice that most atheists won't 'attack' anybody without provocation?

No, they usually won't.

They, like me came here to see what makes religitards tick. Or maybe because somebody keeps screaming at them from streetcorners to REPENT!

Or maybe because they finally got their s*!t on straight and started thinking for themselves instead of letting some preacher charge them weekly to think for them and just wanna watch the circus from the cheap seats...

I personally had BeeGie tell me I was 'surely hellbound' for not believing in skydaddy.

I didn't even have to 'walk the walk.' Nope. All I hadda do was 'believe' and I'da had ma "Cosmic Easy Button."

But yeah, sometimes I do come here to argue with the god zombies-

Why not? They argue with me all day long! (And most of 'em think I'm one of them!)

(Is that a christian thing? Believing each other to be so weak that you all need constant religious nannying to 'keep the faith?')

Pfft.  And you xtians say ATHEISTS have no morals or guidance.

WE don't HAVE TO constantly remind each other to be good like xtians do.

WHO'S posing again???

You better believe I'm gonna burn when I'm dead.  I specifically asked to be burned.  It's cheaper and easier than burial. (except my wife says she MAY have part of me stuffed....She hasn't quite made up her mind yet.

What the heck. I ain't gonna feel a thing. I was dead for billions of years before I was born and I was not fazed a bit.  I imagine death will be no different.

As real as it gets.

Pup, I'm sorry you feel that way. I never once have thought or felt that atheists or agnostics have no morals....or are any "lesser" than a Christian. Everybody has their moral compass. What drives it? I suppose that's different for everyone. But I believe that we, as humans, have a desire and an innate "need" to behave, not to harm people, and love eachother. As far as education and religion, they are completely independent of eachother- the smartest Harvard grad in the world could have just as strong faith in God as the man who has never set foot inside a classroom. Please know that not all Christians are loony tunes. Belief in God does not make me stupid- it makes me stronger than I was. Believe it or not;-) Cheers V

I never one time said in any of my statements that Atheists have no morals. I know many people that are not Christians that have better morals than some people that profess they are Christian. I just can't understand why being one (Christian) makes me so close minded to an Atheist. Just because someone professes to be a Christian doesn't give anyone the right to disprove it. Yes I know human nature kicks in and we all can be judgemental. Simply because an Atheist don't believe in Heaven or Hell, doesn't make me hate them for it. I just don't understand why y'all have to try and convince believers that they're wrong. Hey, if we're all wrong about Christianity, all that can be said is "I told you so", it's not going to effect us in any way. I personally can't understand not believing in something better than what we have now. Would or do you guys argue with Muslims or Budhists for their beliefs?

=======================

IF that was all that was all that could be said of religion you'd be right, no affect at all. It's all the awful things done in the name of religion that I have a problem with. It's that constant cry that "we need religion in our schools", and in every other aspect of our lives I don't like, among other things. It's nasty people doing nasty things to others and thinking it's OK because they claim their religion demands it, and in their minds, and the minds of others that think like them, that gives them a pass. There are two major forces that affects us and even drives people to war-politics and religion. Since they are intertwined, why would an atheist be concerned about politics but not religion? Both parties use religion to tell us who we should vote for, and how we should live.

Because I don't know you I have no idea what you want that is better than you have now, but there is nothing better than what I have. Nothing can top my life with my family and friends. There are bumps in the road, but family and friends are still here, still the bright spots, and when they go, as with others that have already, family and friends will still be alive in my memories, and when I'm gone I'll live as long as the ones that know me and are "left behind" are alive and have their memories. The idea of streets of gold and mansions in the sky, an eternity of  groveling at the feet of a god, never appealed to me, even when I did believe. I don't know any muslims or buddhists personally, but yes, if they were to come in here, or stop me on the street and start telling me and others we had to worship the way they worship, live like they think we should live, they would get an argument from me.

there will be no 'groveling at the feet of God' in Heaven. we will be in continuous praise and worship at the feet of our Creator because of our love for Him.

and even though we will have mansions on streets paved with gold, i think that will hardly be noticed, because He will greatly out-shine it all. hg<><
