Lawsuit alleges that Cincinnati Public School students bused to polls with sample ballots listing just Democrats

Alex Pappas--The Daily Caller Alex Pappas--the Daily Caller – Wed Oct 20, 1:25 pm ET

A lawsuit has been filed against the Cincinnati Public School system after high school students last week were driven in church vans to a polling station and given sample ballots listing only Democrats.

Alex M. Triantafilou, the chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party, told The Daily Caller that it’s “OK” for the school system to transport students to vote, but the problem, he said, is when those activities have a “partisan bent to it.”

“If the allegations are proven to be true, it’s very disturbing,” he said.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, an attorney representing the school system admits that the students were taken to the board of elections office, but said the Democratic sample ballots were distributed by a former principal who no longer works for the school system. “We don’t admit any mistakes,” attorney Mark Stepaniak said.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a Republican candidate for county office in Cincinnati, as well as another political organization.

According to the paper, draft language is in the works for a restraining order that will keep students from being subjected to partisan electioneering.

And using Church vans to take the kids to vote really tops it.

Juan,

You truly are clueless, aren't you. The young Republicans are found in public and private schools. Most of the private schools aren't the upper class ones such as Obama sent his daughters.

Prove it. In this case, these are inner-city kids and that demographic gets zero attention from the Reps. These kids only received Dem propaganda because there were no Reps there with their propaganda.

FROM WLWT IN CINCINNATI:
Cincinnati Public Schools spokeswoman Janet Walsh said the matter remains under investigation.

."A group volunteered vans to drive some students and the school accepted the offer," Walsh said. "No CPS personnel engaged in the promotion of candidates or any political party."

She said representatives from both the Democratic and Republican parties were distributing literature outside the board of elections office where the students voted.

This is another example of Fox and fools, and a fringe group tea party tricking the likes of BMforbrains and her fellow glenbeckgoosesteppers into manufacturing a scandle out of nothing.

You can't read, can you?

Both groups were distributing literature but they only gave the students DEMOCRATIC BALLOTS!

That only demonstrates that the Reps were not prepared. Why is that a legal issue??? SHould the Dems not be allowed to practice free speech merely because the Reps failed???
You are defending church vans taking high school kids to vote and only giving them democratic ballots? The students were given them by a 'former principal who no longer works for the school system'. He got fired, what does that tell you?

I'm sure if they were only given republican ballots, you would agree that was OK too.

You assume they were fired.

Juan,

I suggest you review the demographics study by Pew for republicans, democrats and independents at:

http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=465

Pretty much similar in income, except the Democrats have a couple of percent more in the highest income range. Most Republicans aren't country club types.
