Isaiah 35:8-10 has as much to do with Purgatory as it has to do with the so-called "tribulation" (as conceived by B.G. and the Triburapturist fantasists)--NOTHING!.
Bill Gray--I got yer Pastor Chuck Smith/Calvary Temple right heah! The man is a
flaming false prophet. Per Wickipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvary_Chapel:"Return of Christ in 1981
During the late 1970s and early 1980s,
Chuck Smith wrote and published a prophetic timeline that predicted the Rapture would occur in 1981.[26][27] The reasoning had to do with the idea that the 7-year Tribulation would end in 1988, forty years after the establishment of the state of Israel.
In his 1978 book, Chuck reasoned that Haley's Comet in 1986 would result in problems for those left behind: "The Lord said that towards the end of the Tribulation period the sun would scorch men who dwell upon the face of the earth (Rev. 16). The year 1986 would fit just about right! We’re getting close to the Tribulation and the return of Christ in glory. All the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.
Disappointment resulting from the prophecy not materializing in 1981 caused some to leave the church."
But not Bill Gray, who steadfastly endorses this particular false prophet. And Chuck Smith decidedly IS a false prophet--by Biblical definition. Here is how your Bible tells you to identify a false prophet, Bill. Apply this to the failed prophesies of Pastor Chuck Smith, Bill, and the only conclusion is that he is a
false prophet!
Deuteronomy 18: 19 & 20:
18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
20But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
Pastor Chuck indeed has spoken presumptuously and has clearly--by the Biblical criteria I have cited above--shown himself to be a FALSE PROPHET! His end time prophecies are about as dependable as the embarrassingly failed prophecies handed down by the leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses cult!
It is time for you to leave Pastor Chuck and Calvary Temple, Bill. True Christians will not knowingly ally themselves with those proven to be FALSE PROPHETS!!!
