The Seventies Knocked

Often people get just what they ask for or demanded.  Obama, and obvious (to many) amateur and certainly not equipped for the job, was elected in a campaign where an all to willing media failed to even investigate the man or report on the man.  The public had a beauty pageant election in 2008 but by 2012 there was more than enough information to reveal that the man, and his administration, were obviously incompetent and worse failing at their job yet he was reelected.  So as with the healthcare bill we are now getting what the majority wanted or at least the majority who voted.  

Its amusing though, now, to watch some of these Democrats running from the very bill they hoisted high above their heads holding up to the American people.  WHY?  Because you just know they had no idea what was in it when they voted for it nor did they know what it would do to the people but they just blindly went along with their party leadership.  I say it's time for them to go and good riddance to them if they do.  Trouble is that usually what replaces them is just the same thing over and over again.  But at least there is hope ... isn't there?

Keep in mind, the majority of the votes were for him and not the other guy.  So the majority must favor his policies, or were the majority more afraid of the other guy.  Which of those got him elected?

Hoob, that is what I have tried to explain to the hard working people I know that vote strictly Democrat.  They are not the party of Truman or JFK.  Both of them hated communism, obuma seems to lean towards it.

why do the rt. wingnuts insist 'they only vote for obama for free stuff'? where exactly does that come from? i've never been 'given' anything. i'd like to sign up. all the wingnuts keep saying it.. i have yet to find where to sign up or where they see all the people getting 'free stuff'.

Don't the solid republican states receive more from DC than they send to DC?  It would appear that the lefty, democrat states have to support the republicans.

What law has the republicans ever passed that benefitted blue collar working class people??

Who do you consider blue collar working class people? You always circle back to that same old lame tired argument.

What law has the current democratic leadership passed to help the blue collare working man?  The emphasis is on current. 

 If I lived in a moocher state like Alabamastan I don't think I would be accusing other people of being "hooked on the freebies". The fine citizens of Alabamastan are subsidized 50 cents to the dollar by the Federal Government. That's not even mentioning the billions that were poured into public works projects over the last 100 years. If you guys can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps and make it under your own steam maybe it's time to stop calling everyone else a socialist.

And I can give you a lot of examples of why this happens.  For instance I know a young lady with three children, all with different dads, who is recently married.  Lives in government asssisted housing, and gets food stamps each month, and is on Medicaid.  Husband this year admits to making about $20K, since that is all that was documented.  They did file taxes, and were stating that they would be getting back $10K in tax refund, which is obviously more than a refund since they did not pay that much in, this has to include child credit, etc. The kicker is that they were discussing getting an I-phone when the check is received.  Sadly this girl does not want to take OCPs for birth control, and despite three kids does not want a tubal ligation.  This is one example of a multitude of problems we have here in the state.  And the current government programs reward this behavior and there is little incentive to do better.  The young husband is in excellent health and could work with no issues.

Best, I consider blue collar working class to be the ones who do the physical work of keeping our country running.  I realize that someone who sits at a desk and makes decisions can go home and be exhausted because of the mental stress involved in their job, but it's not blue collar work. Also, the desk work and the stress that comes with it has to be done, or else, the blue collar people could not work.  We are all in this together and both types of work has to be done.

Why am I not surprised that you have no idea. So you think people with desk jobs don't work? They only "make decisions"? Seriously, are you a teenager trying to pass for an adult? 

Do they dig ditches,or flip hamburgers or weld metal or operate big machines or build houses or repair electrict machines or make your car run or build skyscrapers or run jackhammers or any other physical work?  No.  Their work is non-physical and the mental strain and stress can be just as exhausting as the hardest physical work.  I have not said that white collar work is easy.

Oh yes indeed, it takes a LOT of effort and strength to flip a hamburger, put it in a bag or push a button on a machine, not to mention that exhausting task of tightening a screw.

IF its BS, they told it, and what incentive do they have to lie.  I know for a fact that the husband does very little work, the mother is on government assistance, they live in government housing and she has three kids all by different fathers.  Their tax return figures came from them, not me. So it if BS, they told it.  In any case, it is an example of the kind of problems we have.

I know what the county Health Department charges for contraception and what they provide.  Anyone can afford it if they want. We have one side who wants to save every child that is conceived, and another that wants to get rid of them. Then there are those who are using children as a tool to collect more dividends.  They don't see that it is a losing battle. 

You can spout all the roo-rahs you want about how the blue collar workers need more, the poor need more, etc, and on some issues I agree, however there comes a point and time where if you plan to take everything from one group and equally distribute it to another, then there is no incentive to better yourself.

Jt, why don't you tell us why it's BS. You're always making BS statements and we show you where you're wrong, so if you think it's not true, show us. 

I looked at a 1040 and tried to figure the refund.  I don't think they get a child tax credit (they get back all they paid in, there's nothing left to credit).  I think they would get $5518 in earned income credit plus any taxes withheld from pay checks.  I just couldn't find a $10,000 refund.  If the tax law allows them to get a $10,000 refund, take it.  Various corporations get millions, rich corporate farms get millions.

I think the tax code needs to be rewritten.  And don't let lobbyiest dictate the terms and conditions.
