The Las Vegas gunman was evil and possibly mental, to some degree, and he did have several, legally obtained, weapons along with some extras.  This YouTube video is about some of the extras that are available and that surely he had.  I'm a gun enthusiast, I have hunted, and I fully believe in the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans but I didn't know such accessories were available to turn a semi-automatic weapon into a, close to, automatic weapon.

I'm not for eliminating these though because I fully believe that the 2nd Amendment covers such, at last as it was written.  If the 2nd Amendment should be changed then it should be by the method prescribed in the Constitution to do so and not by legislation or executive order.  At the time the Constitution was written the founders meant for the 2nd Amendment to cover military type weapons.  The question for me is if they had known what innovations the future would bring to military type weapons would they have worded it differently.  I don't know that they would because I believe the intent was to allow citizens to regain control of their government if it was taken over or got out of control.

I believe the real problem is the person behind the gun and not the instrument that the evil/crazy person chooses.  He was a millionaire pilot with a plane and he could have just as easily loaded up the plane with fuel and/or explosives and flew into the crowd or into a motel there.  More people are killed each year by drunks in cars should be ban alcohol and/or cars?   It's said Smoking kills more than that in a year so should we ban smoking?  Somewhere they needs to be sanity and consideration that there are some sane people and insane people.  I don't know that you can ever prevent these things from happening, I actually think you can't but I was surprised at some of the accessories that are available to the public for these guns.  In the video the Bump/Slide stock is shown and also you can see a drum magazine allowing for a great number of ammo to be expended without reloading.

Yet one more video that could reveal how such a nut could easily do so much harm.  I never knew there were 150 round barrel magazines for these guns nor did I know about the bump/slide stock.  After seeing this and realizing that it took almost an hour for the SWAT team to breach this guys door it may be more amazing that he didn't kill even more but then over 500 injured is understandable.    The guy was a millionaire, maybe some gambling problems, but who would ever think such a guy would do such a thing.

For the gun control advocates I'll only submit when has a law stopped a criminal or lawbreaker from doing what they wanted to do?  You can make any gun law you want but people like this aren't going to abide by them.  If a person wants to speed then speed limit laws aren't going to deter them and the same applies to gun laws.   Could be his choice of a gun lessened the number of dead and wounded.  He was a pilot, owned a plane, so how many might have died or been wounded if he had loaded his plane with fuel and explosives and flew into the crowd?

On the topic of goobermint gun laws keeping us all safe, Marco Rubio received the Washington Post's highest award for truth when he was fact checked on his statement that "No recent mass shootings would have been prevented by gun laws.".

To be added to the list of "what the shooter used" includes the prescribed drug Diazapam:

A few additional comments about laws banning guns.  For one if the 2nd Amendment is to be changed then it should be done so by the procedure prescribed within the Constitution for such changes and not by legislation, judicial advocacy, or Executive Order.

For those who believe a gun ban is needed consider that they banned Alcohol during prohibition and created a new criminal industry getting the product to people who wanted it so they were able to get it.

Drugs have been outlawed and banned for years yet drugs are easily obtained by those who want it and a great many people die annually, innocent and not, due to the drug industry.

People willfully violate laws daily whether it be speeding or drunk driving and as a result their violations often kill innocent people.

All banning guns will do is remove them from law abiding people and set them up to be run over by criminals or people that no longer fear their ability to fight back.  Is there any laws that have actually stopped criminals and criminal activity?

As I've posted, they found tannerite, an explosive, in his house and car.  If he'd taken that, plus jellied gasoline in a plane and crashed it at the celebration, the casualties might have been much worse.

It really makes you wonder what all mayhem this guy was considering because obviously he could have killed far more.  Then again today they said he did have some kind of exit plans and planned on leaving alive so maybe he did have other plans to continue his killing spree and we haven't heard about it yet.

I believe the tannerite was found at the shooters home, but his car had the AN part of ANFO. The bassterd could have easily added the FO part in a container with added nails, BB's, and/or scrap metal and loaded that into his plane.

Or that rich murderer could have just bought a large truck or RV and plowed into the event, with or without the bomb.

I think you can take that to the bank Stanky.  While I'm a huge 2nd Amendment advocate believing that the founders did mean for citizens to be able to possess and have military type weapons I have to also wonder would they have done things differently if they could know what improvements and advancements would be made to guns.  While I don't worry that the 2nd Amendment will be eliminated I am 99% sure that Bump/Slide stocks will soon be illegal to get.  The question is can or will they grandfather in people that have purchased them prior to a law that they most likely will pass.

The county sheriff announced the discovery of the explosives in the car only recently.  It was in five containers not originally examined.

While I don't care if those bump fire stocks disappear, I hope that Congress can bargain to get pro-Second Amendment language included in the ban bill as a trade to force anti-gun states and local government to trust their good citizens. What I've seen of bump fire systems is that they are a great way to miss faster.
