Interfaith Dialogue - in a Day

Coordinators of Spiritual Growth & Education: We present three experiences that are excellent opportunities for individuals, small study groups, youth groups, adult Sunday and Sabbath school classes; college classes, persons preparing for baptism, confirmation, bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah or upanayana; those seeking African-American History Month observances; all who hunger to understand our vast community and the world around us.

Please review the enclosed materials for more information. Your publicity in newsletters, bulletin boards and announcements would be greatly appreciated as strive to help you offer cooperative opportunities for you congregation. Briefly:

Heart to Heart Hometown Pilgrimage is your opportunity to observe or experience worship in different faith traditions in a structured environment that allows for questions and dialogue with leaders from the represented congregations following the service. The focus is on experiencing different spiritual cultures and making a commitment to deepen understanding of each one void of conversion attempts. Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions but registration is requested so adequate seating is reserved. This begins January 28 and continues weekly through April 1.

The Local Interfaith Summit is a spectacular opportunity for a community of our size that has reached global stature as a leader in interfaith dialogue and cooperation. Large-city audiences would flock to hear Rabbi David Saperstein of the Washington-based Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, who has appeared on Oprah and Nightline, and Dr. John Thatamanil of Vanderbilt University, who has contributed to the Atlanta Constitution-Journal and the Los Angeles Times. Hospitality, entertainment and sharing from five local faith traditions and congregations are a part of this four day event, February 22-25. Registration is required to receive complementary meals and materials.

Interfaith Dialogue on the Road is a popular IMS program that travels to congregations for a four week mini-course on world religions. Experience the complete opportunity on a single day, February 25 from 2-6 at The Center for Conscious Living at 308 Lily Flagg Road, SE.

Contact IMS at (256) 536-2401 or ims@arilion.com to register or for more information.
