Nope. When did they change it from 1960 to 1964? Because he's black? Roll Eyes From babyboomernow.com:

Baby Boomers were born between 1946-1960, a period when many European countries were growing. Baby Boomers today occupy the highest corporate positions and are known as workaholics because they have the highest proportion of workaholics in history. Generation X are those people born from 1961-1979.

Is Decatur's unemployment rate back to 36% yet? Big Grin

Your silly and childish practice of altering the names of persons is becoming very old and very boring. It that kind of thing the apex of your creative energies? Yep, probably so, given the steady cascade of drooling drivel you are given to barfing up on these forums.

Bloated Blowhard of Bombast, you gave yourself the title and now you are angry at me? Just stays in line with a liberal's mindset. The government steals you blind yet you wonder where your money went. Roll Eyes
from wikipedia:

The United States Census Bureau considers a baby boomer to be someone born during the demographic birth boom between 1946 and 1964.[8] The Census Bureau is not involved in defining cultural generations.

William Strauss and Neil Howe label American Baby Boomers 1943 to 1960.[9]

In Ontario Canada, one influential attempt to define the boom came from David Foot, author of Boom, Bust and Echo: Profiting from the Demographic Shift in the 21st Century, published in 1997 and 2000. He defines a Canadian boomer as someone born from 1947 to 1966, the years that more than 400,000 babies were born. However, he acknowledges that is a demographic definition, and that culturally it may not be as clear-cut.[10]. Doug Owram argues that the Canadian boom took place from 1946 to 1962, but that culturally boomers (everywhere) were born between the late war years and about 1955 or 1956. He notes that those born in the years before the actual boom were often the most influential people among boomers. For example, in other words (The Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones), while those born in the 1960s might well feel disconnected from the cultural identifiers of the earlier boomers.[11]

Bernard Salt places the Australian baby boom between 1946 and 1961.[12][13]

One of the many erroneous things you seem to believe is that I gave myself the title to which you refer. Since I never did that, I would sugggest that you stop attributing it to me. I assigned the title properly to Rush Limbaugh, for whom the title is a perfect fit.I realize, however, that your distortion of the matter is in line with your general mindset of just making stuff up as you go.

I'm not sure what sort of credentials these Strauss and Howe guys have, but the Boomer generation is pretty much universally accepted as extending until 1964. Since the label was based on the explosion of birth rates, they presumably continued to be high until 1964. Unlike Gen X, Gen Y, etc., there is actually empirical data on which to rely for the label. The other labels describe more individual characteristics, rather than simply being born during a period of birth booms.

i knew that eventually i would find something on this:

DECATUR - The Decatur-area unemployment rate rose once again October as uncertainty continues to loom in the local economy.

The unemployment rate was 12.7 percent, up from 7.5 percent in October 2008 and a slight increase from the previous two months, when it was 12.4 percent, according to Illinois Department of Employment Security statistics released Wednesday. The October rate was the highest since 1982, when it was 36.4 percent.

Decatur City Manager Ryan McCrady said he is not anticipating any more big increases in the rate, but the city continues to be impacted, even as the national economy slowly shows signs of recovering.

In other words, you admit that you were WRONG, i.e. thsaty I did NOT, as you falsely asserted, give myself that title.

It takes some integrity to just flat out and honestly admit it when one is wrong, so it is understandable why you would not do so.

Hey lunkhead, have your mom change your diaper. I'm not wrong. The ONLY news about metropolitan unemployment for 1982 listed Youngstown, Ohio as tops (or bottoms) at 20.9%. That's quite aways from 36%, don't ya think, clod.

Also the original baby boomer definition was 1946-1960. Here are some responses from people younger than I am on the issue:

I was born in 1964. When I was growing up, references in the media to the Baby Boomers never extended to 1964. Now thirty something years later, suddenly the Baby Boom generation has been revised and everyone quotes 1946 to 1964 as established fact. Has anyone looked at the statistics because the way we are retroactively defining baby boom is not the way I heard about it growing up.

It drives me crazy that the baby boomers keep moving up the years that define baby boomers to include the oldest Generation Xers. They must do it to make themselves feel younger. They can't be in the age group of 45 - 60 it must really be 37 to 55. I was born in 1968 and my husband was born in 1966. I guarantee that 5 to 10 years from now we will be baby boomers too.
__________________________________
I was born at the end of 1963. I really am a baby boomer, since my dad served in WWII, and my brother was born in 1947. But a few years back I clipped an article about 1963 being "left alone", with baby boomers up to 1962, and Generation X beginning in 1964! It was really funny. I've always felt in the middle. But it's true the dates just keep jumping around.
______________________________
Of course it's really a stupid designation anyway. People born in 1946 have very little in common with people born in 1959 much less 1964.
