Cruise 'is Christ' of Scientology
TOM Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion.
The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.
And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.
A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure.
“Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.”
Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the ’80s. Leader L Ron Hubbard claimed humans bear traces of an ancient alien civilisation.

I wonder how Tom "The Christ" Cruise’s birthday will be celebrated ?

I wonder if he will land on peoples house top’s in a flying sauce or a Top Gun type fighter jet and then slide into people’s homes wearing Fruit of the Loom briefs while singing Cruisemas carols and spreading the word?

Merry Cruisemas to all!

Brotha, you "sort of" hinted that you worked for WAFF 48 news in another post. Is this going to be the next "investigative" report? Makes about as much sense as some of the others that this station has reported as NEWS! Once again the challange, PLEASE tell me you DON'T work for this screwball station! I'm still in the corner but I am building up a bark! LOL THE DOG
ooohhhhweeeeee and to think we put him on that throne! we idolize film stars "like' they are gods, throw our hard money to them with each and every movie ticket, magazine with their pics spread across the front, grabbling for every tidbit or even mention of their very name. We do this to all of them. So here is Tom, he totally goes whackers, joins the study of scientology and now it is decided he is the messiah.
Just look at the publicity this has all gotten him!

Don't let the movie ruin it for you. The book was pretty good, if you have time to read 1000 pages. The movie only covered the first part of the book. They didn't make a movie covering the second part because part one was so bad. Same with most Sci-Fi, the books are so much better, Starship Troopers for example.

Maddog,

What, in your opinion, makes WAFF worse than the other stations in Huntsville?

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, just interested in your take on it.

Oh your absolutely right homesick, they are all too sensationalized and trivial, especially with the weather. One thing I will say for Channel 31 is they seem to be more low key and don't scream THE SKY IS FALLING everytime there is a thunderclap. I also have a personal bias against WAFF because of their ownership by Raycom Media, an outlet of RSA, AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I THINK OF RSA AND BRONNER! THE DOG

You mean every night when they mention SNOW on the 5th day of the forecast they really don't mean it? They wouldn't being trying to just get us to watch again tomorrow would they?
Surely not!
Isn't this country all about freedom of, and freedom from religion???

Scientology has just as much claim to their god or gods, and their beliefs, however ridiculous, as any other religion.

I don't require any religion and I currently don't believe in a omnipotent god.

However, it is funny that when believers of one faith, look at another religion, they can be objective, use reason and logic and see right through it.

The irony is blatant and willful.

They have every right to their religion just as I do, I agree. However, calling a megalomaniac actor the new Christ is an insult to my beliefs as a Christian. They have every right to worship and say whatever they want. If they want to name this guy as their new messiah, they are free to do so. I also have the right to express my opinion on the matter, so I say f--- Tom Cruse and scientology.

Nash, I wouldn't take anything the Scientology crowd believes or says personally, unless of course they direct it toward you or yours. Live and let live.

If we questioned them about Tom, they may say it is in accordance with their prophecy. And after all, can we prove that he isn't their chosen one?

Belief without proof = faith.
Yes, he's a rich actor who makes large donations. Feeding his ego means larger donations. I don't really take it personally, I just have no interest in celebrities. I really don't understand the fascination people have with them. I've been around a few, with a few exceptions they are all jerks. Let them have their Maverick Christ, it doesn't affect my life one bit.
