On Friday while I was taking my exams someone broke into my vehicle and stole my books and credit cards. If you know of someone who was at UNA during 1 and 3 pm on friday and parked in the parking deck...
1) tell them to check and make sure that still have all of their possessions. The person who did this was neat and left everything exactly like they found it minus books and cards. I have no idea how they got into my locked vehicle unless they had one of those locksmith hooks.
2) Tell them to report anything suspicious to the campus police and a time frame to narrow it down.
Thanks

This is another example of that you don't need to leave items visible to others in your car. Also with the comment that they left the car neat, more then likely the person who entered the vehicle already knew the habits of this person and it made it more easy for them.
So this person would have not been suspicious in any way because they more then likely attended the college.
Pass your lesson learned on to others and this will help stop the problem of items being stolen out of a car. If others students put items in the trunk, then suspicious people would not see items that they wanted to take like it was a piece of candy.

It was a truck so there is no trunk. The police said other cars were broken into so I don't think they were targeting me.

I was thinking that there are cameras in the parking deck. I could be wrong about that.

There absolutely should be cameras in the parking deck but I have spoken with security about it and they said they do not have cameras.

Are you serious? Maybe they need to put more money into security precautions and less into aesthetics.

Earthmomma, now, that post could be read as if you make Earthpoppa ride in the trunk sometimes. Is that true? Poor Earthpoppa, what has he done now? Wink
Lynn, I just read your post! LOL! What has Earthpoppa done? Nothing! That is why he is in the trunk!(doghouse} My school principal came by once and asked why I had a child in the hall. The child told him he had done nothing. I said that was correct and I had to have a five minute cooling off period to retain control. You could misbehave in my room, once in a while, because children do. But---you could not demonstrate a lack of interest in learning!Don't stop! EM

Liked the ideal of putting cameras up in the parking deck. Wonder why they are not put other places on the campus, but doesn't that invade people privacy. Wasn't there a book written about big brother watching people?
Does it invade people's privacy to go through "security" to board an airplane?
Youd think with all the money they waste on the security department at UNA that they could keep their butts on campus instead of patrolling all over Florence trying to play real policemen. And what about that swat team they have down there. Talk about a waste of money. No wonder tuition keeps going up down there with the waste that is going on. They have a police force bigger than any city in Lauderdale County outside of Florence and apparently they are too busy and important to patrol the campus. In the 70's they had 2 security people in gas scooters and did a better job than they do now.
