I heard the "mayor" went with SEDA group and had a fancy lunch at the Capital City Club in Montgomery where they sit around and tell each other how great they all are and congratulate each other for nothing. Bobby Denton and Tammy Irons, etc. show up and more of the same. The whole usual suspects are there and they play big-shot and leave accomplishing nothing but feeding there bellies and egos. This while Scott is actually over at the state house and governor's office WORKING, lobbying for us. SEE VIDEO.We do not need any more paid contract lobbyists, that is what elected officials are for. Scott is the best lobbyist we have in the area. He has worked many state capitals and D.C. He has a MPA & BA (MPA, Master of Public Administration, and a BA in Political Science) I checked this out and got it straight from the horse's mouth. Scott is nauseated by the big-shot-itis and phoniness of that crowd and decided to skip the lunch and actually WORK. He talked to the Gov, the Lt. Gov, testified before legislative committees, and worked the halls. The results speak for themselves. THAT is how it's done.
At one time I was naive enough to actually HOPE that the reporters and editor at the TD MIGHT read THEIR own newsboard. After the last few Goens op-eds supporting his "buddy" Forrest Wright and SEDA along with all that goes with it (Chamber of Commerce, Bobby Irons and pals, RSA and Bronner) I now know that the opinions expressed on this board are being ignored. SO, just to add fuel to the fire that I started with the "reporters" of the TD some 5 years ago, I emailed the link to the video to the entire staff! Made my day! THE DOG
Well I wasted SIX quarters for a paper copy again this Sunday. I did notice in Goens "op-ed" piece that he stated it was "the nature of reporters to ask questions" Of course there were the usual praise of RSA and SEDA BUT I thought it funny that the whole piece focused on mistrust of elected officials yet not one word of how people in the area feel about LOCAL ones. TOO CLOSE TO HOME and besides he can't afford to cut off his meal ticket. One bright spot, I think he actually IS reading some of this board because he usually just tows the SEDA and RSA line (and the Wise employee who was thanking Bronner for bailing out Wise was almost funny, considering that the whole thing is in violation of the agreement the company made when they came here, NOT COVERED!) SO, Goens has what I call "selective" reporting, NOW THAT IS IN THE TD NEWSROOM'S NATURE! Oh, another article showed Scott Carrier's radio broadcast, not one word of his work in Montgomery, another example of "selective reporting" What really chaps my hide is why do I waste 6 quarters every Sunday? The car needs washing and would provide more satisfaction and probably be more newsworthy than the TD! THE DOG

Hey Dog! It makes good packing for shipping stuff at Christmas time. There really are some people at the TD that try to have balanced reporting.

Jethro: I have agreed with everything I have read that you posted EXCEPT that LAST SENTENCE! For one, there really ARE NO true reporters at the Times Daily. There are a few up and comers who start at the bottom of the food chain with the New York Times Newsgroup and first hit the TD, then there are the ones like Palmer, Russ Cory and Goens who started when it was managed locally and sort of follow whatever the current leader tells them to print. Then there are the "fluffers" like Sherhonda Allen and that creepy Baptist spinster who do their puff pieces for filler. Other than that, this is a training paper for the NYT newspaper group and the "old timers" are secure and scared they will lose their jobs so there isn't any real investigative reporting. I KNOW! I haer a lot of people talking about how Scott appeals to so many different people. He defies labeling and you can't put him in a box. Men like his toughness and straight talk, women like his caring attitude for real people (plus he is SO cute!) African-Americans like him because he fights the establishment and fights FOR the people, not against us, and he is REAL, young folks like him because he is forward thinking and is for progress, older folks like him because he respects them and they have the wisdom to know a good one when they see it, family people, parents, middle-agers, city employees, regular working people, policemen, firemen (men and women) all like him. Large segments are favorable to him and it cuts across every demographic. The insiders and cronies always want to dismiss him and write him off but to do so is stupid. Scott likes the underdog role and palys it to perfection. He is easy to underestimate but hard to beat. If his detractors and opponents don't think so just wait and see. I would hate to be you. Scott Carrier will clean your clock. Many, many people will rejoice. I can see it now. It makes me feel better just thinking about it.
thanks for all the support for scott, there is a good chance that he may run, but if he does you need to be there to help, by putting up signs, passing out letters and so on. scott would be e great asset to florence and north west alabama. keep all the talk about this up and it will get more momentum.i am a freind of his and it is on his mind only because so many people are wanting fair representation for once .UNLIKE irons,, was he to good to fight for the working man???????? well thanks again he really, really is flattered by all of your support... thanks for being active in you area. tony quillen.
