I for one am sick of this Kendie Behrends lady. She has been going up to city council meetings wanting more money. She already gets SEVERAL MILLION from the City of Florence, and to think she is bickering over $90,000 for a school that is CLOSED. While they are paying in EXCESS OF $100,000 to a TEMP
SERVICE to hire substitute teachers. Poor old Sheffield would love to have a hundred grand to blow. I hope those elected school board members did not take out any long term loans, they won't get re-elected, as i see it. We need to get a petition started to elect the Superintendent and give to our local do nothing legislative group, one might be a hard worker but the rest I would not give a nickel for.

Jethrobodine , it might can be done. Remember 7 or 8 years ago a parent got mad at the (appointed) board members and he and the other parents got out to set it up to make it where they could be elcted ? Go for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the Parents in Florence do NOT want her there, there are several avenues they can go through to get her ousted. I don't have kids there, but if I did, I wouldn't want her.

Yes, I totally agree, THAT should be an elected position... THEN the person who got the job would work much harder for RE-election to the job.
but it should be an election of people only with children of school age or younger. i myself do not have children and must say i am not on top of the educational processes locally. therefore i feel this would be an election i would not be voting on. it really does require those that have children in school to really know the ins and outs going on and have the whole picture.
Wrong. An elected Superintendent would be a huge mistake. I wouldn't have hired Dr. Behrends, but that's the person we have.

I remember the late Dr. Linville (long-time Lauderdale County Superintendent) telling me once that he could never be re-elected if he made the right decisions; he simply had to go along with the flow. That's NOT a good way to run a school system or anything else.
