From the WSJ no less. Crime is up because police are afraid to their job for fear of retribution.

From the article:
Gun violence is climbing in the nation's cities, marking a likely end to the 20-year national decline in the crime rates, because of changing laws that make it more difficult for police to do their jobs
BS. An LEO's job is enforcing the laws by the laws approved by the community. LEOs are paid to go with the flow.
If the community, through its lawmakers, wants to put limits on a "Terry Stop," go right the hell ahead. I got paid the same whether I filled out a FI card or didn't. Don't want me to profile drug dealers? Cruisin' the 'hood in a "black and normal" harassment? A community can pay LEOs for what they do or what they don't do. The choice is theirs.
And then this happens ....
St. Louis is not the only city seeing increases. According to Baltimore police, gun violence in that city is up by more than 60 percent over last year, with 32 shootings occurring over Memorial Day weekend alone, making May the most violent month the city has experienced in the past 15 years.
Well golly gee whiz. Who could have seen that coming?
One form of retaliation an LEO fears is when they do their job and anarchist riot, the politicians leave them out to dry.
So why bother?
To Protect and Serve
Makes it all worthwhile.
Somehow.
We need more "Gun Restriction Laws".
That way the BATF could track down these "registered" gun owners when they commit a firearms related crime...
They will soon have the cops they want. The foxes will be in charge of the henhouses.

Two decades ago, when the crime rate was sky high, guns were blamed, Guns were present during the great decline in crime and, now. during the resurgence of crime. Therefore, by simple logic, guns as a common element, can not the the reason. I suggest an award for illogical statements entitled "Mr Spock's Ears, rather like the Pinocchios awarded by the Washington Post for falsehoods. The gun bigots, obviously, would be major recipients.
Communities spent millions to determine how to reduce crime, Their efforts worked and reams of studies were written as to how it was accomplished. Then, come the Democrats, once more, ignoring the past, to repeat what caused the original rise in crime.
Then, come the Democrats, once more, ignoring the past, to repeat what caused the original rise in crime.
And the original cause of the rise in crime is there were/are too many thugs
being born.........

That argument would include that thugs are born and not made. Then, that there were more such born about forty years ago to account for the large increase in crime two decades ago. Then, a decrease in such births to account for the drop in crime Then, another increase in births to account for the recent growth in crime.
As Mr. Spock would state, "that is not logical."
Protect and serve
Hard to do when you are accused of harassing the population many who also happen to be the criminals.
