Don't be bitter! What did you do for yourself?

I got my honey some of his favorite smelly stuff and am waiting for him to get home so I can rub him from head to toe with some tingly warming stuff. Smiler

My little ones and I made baked mac and cheese and enjoyed watching Wuthering Heights with Olivier and Oberon and then we watched Jaws. They said they'd never go swimming at the beach again.
We celebrated early last week, but we still enjoyed the day. We went out for coffee and then drove around in the beautiful sunshine with our windows down dreaming big dreams. Smiler

So far, we've settled on a house downtown close enough to walk to the library and various festivals, music & activities in the park and downtown area. That or we'll have some sort of really cool shop downtown and live in the upstairs area...haha. Both these choices won out over a home on the river. We had a wonderful time - all it cost was 2 cups of coffee and a little gas money.
No honey this year. Only myself, and surprisingly content with it. I spent the day with my mother and grandmothers. I got them some flowers, we went out to eat, and I got myself a pedicure. I had one of the best Valentine's Day- spending it with the people who love me unconditionally instead of someone that loved me with strings attached.

Well, I figured I deserved something so I splurged and bought myself a $1 box of candy. Smiler
We went out to dinner on Friday night since that is the night we could get a sitter and had a very nice, grown-up time. We did however, have to wait quite a while on a table because we did not bother to make reservations but it wasn't that bad and we got to talk while we waited which is hard with a six and one year old constantly around! Then when we left the restaurant it was raining so we walked to the car instead of ran (I had on high heels!) and held hands in the rain... that was my favorite part. Smiler

Yesterday morning, I did my regular chores and went to the grocery store. When I got back me and my children made Valentine's heart cookies and I gave them their presents for Valentine's Day. Then we spent the rest of the playing with them and watching some movies we rented. Then my husband and I had the "bright idea" that we put the kids to bed early and he would go get us take out while I stayed behind and poured a glass of wine and lit candles throughout the house and we would have a romantic dinner. HA! Neither of my kids would cooperate with this. And when I say early I mean it was after eight o clock! So, we made the best of it... We put them a movie on and made them a special snack and we sat in the living room and ate our Chinese take out and watche Fireproof. It was a good day for us.

My husband and I decided not to buy gifts this year. Just cards. He wrote me a sonnet in mine and I LOVED it!

of Wuthering Heights (original) for my wife a few years ago

OMG Nola. I'm in shock. All this time, I thought you were a woman. LOL So sorry. They did a pretty good job with that Olivier version of Wuthering Heights but they left out my fave part in the book - the macabre part where Heathcliff digs up Cathy's grave. Deliciously, darkly wicked!!!
I hear there is either a new version with Natalie Portman or one is being made. I will look into it.
Wuthering Heights was one of my favorite books and since my oldest is into Twilight, I thought I would show her what true Gothic romance was.
