[quote]You claimed we were building permanent bases for the US military in Iraq. I still await the location of these bases, which you've refused to give, if they exist anywhere outside you imaigination.

Our soldiers are leaving Iraq, in case, you haven't noticed.

How would such police forces be inserted into hostile territory? Where would they be based? How would intel be gathered so the police forced would know where to go?

US bases are still in Iraq and we also have our private contractors. US Corporations have their claims on undeveloped oil fields which they say has more oil then the old developed ones.

We want troops and bases in the region to threaten Russia and China.

The US intelligence and Internationasl cooperations has already damaged al Qaeda, they are a small group.

The terriroties would not be hostile if the US was not at war with it. They were once tourtist spots. Our military presence has only made more enemies and higher profits for the MIlitary Industrial Corporate Complex, that would be you inteventor.

interventor you play the American people to be fools but they know what is going on and you only fool youself.
So, 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan were the result of a conspiracy to let Unocal build a natural gas pipeline to Pakistan and India. After construction profits, the main profits would go to Turkmenistan. The main users would be India and Pakistan.

Anyone who invests in Pakistan deserves to lose their shirts. I dropped all mine from 401 (k) in 2002.

I guess the quality of psychogenic drugs has improved rapidly.

US combat troops will be out next year. Many are already redeploying to the US. Most of the corporations are support personnel -- mess halls, housing, transportation, etc. Xe/Blackwater is being phased out. Still didn't say where the bases are. Location! Location! Location!

Afghanistan is a terrible place to have bases to intimidate China or Russia. Hard to sustain.

Most of those tourist sites in Afghanistan were destroyed by the Soviets. In Pakistan, by the Taliban and pro-Pakistani insurgents fighting the Indians.

In the Iraqi Kurdish areas, ski resorts are opening!
It would take a population that is willing to be informed with facts, not sound bites. That means reading the bills yourself. They have been on the Congressional web site for at least a decade and you can see the original as well as changes, sponsors, the status of the legislation (in committee, etc), and for votes that have already taken place you can see how everyone voted (assuming they bothered to show up).

It would take a population with enough sense to fact check the nonsense they hear. Some of the BS I’ve heard spouted as fact is so ridiculous that a kumquat with a lobotomy would have the sense to question it.

It would take a population that is willing to be educated, rather than calling those who sacrificed and bothered to get an education “elitist” as if that somehow justifies their laziness. An education can be gained in several ways, not just by going to college. The library is full of books on a variety of subjects and is FREE. But to be truly educated, one has to study and consider multiple viewpoints. Only then can they make informed decisions.

It would take a population that is intelligent enough to base their arguments on facts, not broad sweeping generalizations, name calling and stereotyping, which are a sign that one is incapable of intelligent, complex thought.

It would take a population that recognizes that they are not the center of the universe and they need to consider the impact on EVERYONE not just what they want.

It would take a population that understands the meaning of the word paradigm and realizes that just because someone else has had different life experiences and sees things in a different way, it does not make them evil, ignorant, duped, etc. Other views offer a chance to see something differently. And an intelligent person always seeks out different viewpoints.

It would take a population that knows the difference between helping those less fortunate, which is a Christian value and Socialism. They also need to understand the definition of socialism as it does not involve taking something of someone else’s. It involves everyone contributing and benefitting equally. And while I do not wish to live in a socialist country that tells me what I am best suited to do for a living and which due to it's lack of consideration of human nature cannot sustain itself, I am tired of seeing the term misused.

It would take a population that does not vote one “team” or cause and realizes that every issue needs to be considered individually and the candidate with the most plusses after all are considered is the best one for the job.

It would take a population that does not shout in one breath that the government should stay out of their lives and then insist that the same government tell everyone else how to live.

It would take a population that does not treat our political process as a blood sport to be won at any cost. There are no winners and losers. If anyone loses, we all lose. We all have basically the same needs and desires, how we get there is the only real topic for CIVILIZED debate and informed consideration.

In order for a democracy to survive, there must be a well informed populus. This is not possible when we become so lazy that we allow someone else to think for us. Too many people depend on so called “news” organizations to tell them what to think when they should be reading and analyzing the facts for themselves. And I don’t mean reading someone’s interpretation of the facts. You must go to the unadulterated source. When a small segment of the population is allowed to slant the truth to their convenience and a population accepts that as truth, it is the death of freedom and free thinking.

Unfortunately, dogsoldier0513, judging by some of these posts, I am afraid the ship has sailed.

Aah, the good ole days! The time of institutionalized and ritualized racism, rampant and extended poverty both urban as well as rural, landlords in town and on the farm holding absolute sway over the majority of peoples' lives, widespread illiteracy, sickness, and lack of hope! How low we have fallen! Why a man cannot even buy a gram of cocaine at the drug store using the money his greatgrandpa gave him after buying human beings kidnapped from Africa as free labor without the government getting all upset! You cannot even stuff sausages with sawdust and not get a fine these days!

Thank the Lord we have college and professional sports nearly all year round to view, that keeps us in line from rebellion to go back to paradise.

Now stop all that whining and read the news: John Edwards has a not-so-secret love child! How much will Nick Saban's salary be next round?

Now let your betters discuss matters philosophical over tea while you ignore the obvious as is your wont and hereditary custom.

Reform? It starts with not forming plurals with the apostrophe as a standard form of orthography, by the way, and spreads to knowing the differences between the Arabic language and the Hebrew, and how slim they are.
