Wow!

I was coming home the day  after a Air National Guard drill in SC to building my home in Alabama when I got the news just east of Atlanta.  Being a AntiTerrorist Force Protection [ATFP} instructor, I knew we were at war and rather that return home, I returned to my home base with one dirty uniform, knowing USAF-SF would be first-in, last out and my life and any future plans were on hold.   My first assignment was training US Army Mechanized Infantry [Bradly] how to fight "military operations, urban terrain [MOUT] and Air Base Ground Defense [ABGD].  I was one of the first Air National Guardsmen to report for duty before the formal recall.

I did not return to Alabama for 2 years to complete building my home.  I retired 2004 on my 60th birthday.

Love the Alan Jackson song, and this one too.

God bless the USA
