I still have not figured out why the Bible does not mention the Cave Man or the prehistoric dinosours????? No mention of dinosours on the Noah's Arc???? Was the Cave man classified as a beast?? Will someone explain to me please???? I really try to believe but there are so many ?????????? but someone had to be pretty smart to write the scriptures saying all those things so many years ago.

sarcasm much?
In the book of Job there are references to the Behemoth and the Leviathan. Some believe the desciptions of these creatures match certain land and aquatic dinsaurs. Who Knows?

The Bible doesn't say the horse, the dog, or the cat were on the ark either. It mentions few specific animals.

"Cavemen" (Neanderthals) were so closely related to Cro Magnon that they interbred. Who is to say that some are not still among us today?

No, athiest don't go door to door trying to convert anyone. They don't need to, their "doctrine" is state sponsered and taught in schools as 100% fact. The fact is, a great many of the early species of "man" that we are taught about in science class are based on a few, or one, incomplete skeletons. 10,000 years from now, if someone dug up Patrick Ewing skeleton, they might mistake it for the remains of some other species.
Niki,

Welcome aboard. We atheists are more accepted than you might imagine around here. Those who have a problem with us resent that we expose their fantasy lives for what they are, that's all. Always remember, we're right.

Just look at our dear Alphonse, for example. He's all upset that algebra and English composition aren't all about god, and has no inkling of science whatever. Nor does he realize that the plural of atheist is "atheists". I'll bet he gets really steamed when we point out the obvious: There is no god.

If your wanting people to let it go, then why you bringing it up with a new thread? Confused

Besides that the bashing isn't only coming from christains, I think the athiests have had their part in bashing folks for believing in God. So before you start pointing fingers you need to get your facts straight!!!!!!

Well, Niki, since I started reading the threads, it has been my observation that it is the Atheists that are always entering the Religious Christian threads, and bashing the Christians and trying to push their theories on them.....works both ways, Nik

There have been bashing on both sides of the issue here. There have been Christians as well as atheists who have acted immaturely and said things not to validate their opinions, but to attack someone else.

Religion and choice of faith an important discussion to have. No one is going to agree on everything, but to understand why someone believes the way they do helps keep conversations civil.

Even though we may disagree on religion, you never know where we might agree on something else. If you are really here to meet new people and learn new things, you have to keep the conversations civil and emotions in check.
Well put Nash.
Some people's idea of bashing is different than others'. Personally, unless you make a direct threat against me or my family, I chalk most things up as heated conversation. Others on here feel like they are "bashed" if disagree with them.

So take most things with a grain of salt, vent (since that is what most are doing anyway) and enjoy the different sides of the coin.

Sometimes you actually learn stuff here while in a debate.
speak your mind. glean what good you can. let the rest fall away. welcome to the forum niki! Cool

good thoughts alamex. must not have been very important to God, if He chose not to include it in His Word. Cool

I understand the stereotypical "Caveman" to be a myth. I don't believe science has proven that early mankind were dunderheads. This is of course excluding fossils they say "possibly" could have evolved into mankind as we know it today. So I guess that depends on your perspective. I personally think Captain Caveman should get an honorable mention just because he's adorable though. Smiler

I think dinosaurs were possibly long gone before the time of Noah, but that's a guess.

It is much easier to ignore science than to accept imperfection. If you accept imperfection you must then accept error. If you accept error you have lost all that is sacred to your belief.

So the easiest thing to do is tell yourself that years and years of research is incorrect.

To most - science and religion can't co-exist - it is either one or the other. The problem is religion offers nothing in the form of physical proof other than a book.

That is my take anyway.
fine, I think the reason science and religion cannot coexist for many people is pride as well as a stubborn refusal to change or learn. Pride comes into play when you think you have it all figured out & WHAMMO, something new comes along that rocks all you know on it's end. I'm a little warped in that I love it when that happens. I've learned that a challenge to your faith is the very thing that will strengthen your faith and give you a clearer understanding of yourself, your God and your world. JMHO

It's a two-way street. Don't be disingenuous.
Hi Deep,

You blindly tell us, "I'll bet he gets really steamed when we point out the obvious: There is no god."

You are wrong. There are many, many gods. You atheists have many gods.

Yet, there is only one God. Him you do not know; which is your eternal loss. I pray that one day you will put aside your atheistic gods and bow your knees to the one true God.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

I challenge you to name even one god that I serve.

WRONG again Bill! Atheist have NO GODS, none, zero, nada, zilch, goose egg, nary a one, etc... Why must you insist on lying? I just don't get it! If you are trying to bring people to Christianity, you are going about it all wrong. You know, I'm not an Atheist, and I have to defend them against what you say because it drives me NUTS!

Don’t know if I would call it bashing but I got on the wrong foot with DeepFat and GoFish a while back. I wish I hadn’t done that.

My apologies to both, Deepfat and GoFish.

I wish I could accept the apology but I know of nothing you did other than participate in lively debate.

I certainly appreciate the sentiment, though. We cool. We cool.

The funny part is, most religious threads are started by the atheists.

If I may politely interpose, I think the fundamentalist Christians on the board hold that distinction. But, I do agree it was a funny thing to say.

Before Braylan joined, it was only Mr. Bill and he rarely started one(actually for a while he could not start one), he would just join in. It seems Fish, DF, and Fine have started more in the past. AND, yes, it is funny.

Let's see here... My recent threads have been about mosquitoes, GoFish being such a nice man (in which religion or atheism was not mentioned), Bigfoot, Click and Clack, plumbing, ice cream, and hats. But, who knows, I might post one this afternoon about the absurdity of fundamentalism.

Excessive religiosity has retarded the economic and intellectual progress of the Small-Town South for too long. Because I'm from the South, and love it, I don't mind alerting people that it's OK not to participate. It's also OK to hold religion to the same standards of evidence and logic that we apply to football, business, gardening, and BBQ.

The time has passed when religion can demand undeserved respect, especially when it speaks of a 6000 year old earth and undermines sound science.

Hip, aren't you supposed to put a cryptic little tag in parentheses after Bill's name, like the Islamics do after Mohammed's (peace be upon him)? Something like PBUHHN or PBUH? Is it even correct to spell it out in Latin letters? Doesn't it deserve Hebrew or Greek? B-I- Upside down V - upside down V? Or is it B_ll? Why in Hebrew, it would be an unutterable Trigrammaton or Bigrammaton!
