Oh, so you don't know? I thought you atheists had that one nailed down...and where exactly is the snag you guys hit in your 'proof'....How exactly have the scientists proven that there is no God? I would like to see a copy of that....not theories, facts, please. Until you can present me with the precise evidence, I will continue to worship my God who created all things.
God was not created, DF....he has always been....Did you read my previous post about my time theory? Well, not a theory, but what God showed me when I asked about that.

We know God has always been (well, us smart ones do) so imagine time going back 4.7 billion years...at the same time imagine time continuing into the future as far as you can imagine....as time goes backwards...and time goes forwards, it gradually bends (like light rays) and eventually meets...therefore unending....that is God, He had no beginning and has no end...He is the Alpha and the Omega.
When God showed me that and I tried to imagine it the first time it gave me a headache. So that is the "Gazelle Theory" of the 'creation' of God.

To God a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day. To God there is no time....so, creation in 6 days could have be relative to God's timing, not ours. Because when God began creating, the earth was not formed, therefore there was no sunup and sundown..to call a day as we know it.

This is one of the most honest answers I have ever seen by a person of faith on this forum, Meanest.

You leave me nothing to ridicule.

<back pat, back pat>

Thank you Fish, would you please explain to DF that I am NOT a fundie!!!!!! I do believe that I have pi**** him off!

when do facts, knowledge, and science disagree? And how does god answer such a disparity?

I will try to make this short. A relative of mine was diagnosed with metastasized cancer.
He was given no medical tx. He was told he would live 3 months, if lucky. He was a retired veteran.
He decided to make the best of it and started eating better and took a job at a warehouse for the exercise. As time passed, he felt better. One day, on the job, a forklift he was driving went out of control and overturned. He was found dead. An autopsy was performed and it was determined he died of a heart attack. The doctors found no traces of cancer in any organs of his body. This was 10 years after his diagnosis. Facts said he would die in three months, logic said he would die in three months, medical science said he would die in 3 months. Belief in God gave him 10 years.
Do you have another logical explanation DF?

In this case, we have a choice of believing one of three things:

1.: Spontaneous remission that could have been aided by "positive thinking" (what you might call the "power of prayer") Interesting video explaining the process: http://www.drkoop.com/video/93/2471.html

2.: Misdiagnosis

3.: The creator of the universe intervened on your relative's behalf while ignoring the pleas of millions of starving children and victims of crimes.

Occam's Razor suggests that the solution with the least amount of variables is most likely to be the correct answer. I would pick #1. Spontaneous remission does appear to happen in 1 in 100,000 cases.

Fish, just curious. What do you think about the power of positive thinking? I believe our minds are more powerful than we realize. I've employed positive thinking techniques in the past for various reasons and that coupled with action my part, have usually brought about my desired outcome.

I believe there is evidence to suggest that there is a connection between consciousness and our body's physiological processes that are not fully understood by science at the moment. But we are working on it.

I do not, however, believe in anything resembling "The Secret" where the universe changes course based on your wants and desires.

In short, I'm wiling to accept any non-supernatural explanation. The universe is, after all, not only stranger than we imagine, but stranger than we can imagine. Wink

Number one is definitely a good possibility since I can call it the Power of Prayer and you can say positive thinking.
Number two is not possible.
Number three is beyond my scope of knowledge.
But, LMM, I see you have already made up your mind...
because people are typing rather than talking, it is easy
to be misunderstood. I don't know if it is TD's fault or my new laptop, but I am having problems...also cannot delete anything if I make a mistake..believe me I tried to delete the grammer statement that got misplaced here....but, oh well, I have a feeling you are enjoying hating me anyway...so have at it!
