Why can't right wingers stay with a topic?
Have you notice that most right wingers will not stay with the topic?

The Right Winger will make fun at the post or call the one that post it names if they disargee.

Most of the time I've notice you cannot get the right winger to debate you on the Issue posted.

Right wingers are all so known for Hi-jacking your post!

With all due respect: It may be because you keep posting more topics.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Even I have other interests. If you want a comedy forum STAY OUT OF THE POLITICAL FORUM. This stuff is not funny AND IT IS NOT LIGHT WORK.

What I am trying to get at is after you email, phone, write letters, vote the idiots out,What else is there to do? There are just more idiots to take their place.Do any of you have any definite solutions to these problems?I am tired of worrying about things I cannot change, believe me I have tried to change things,I'm tired of beating my head against a brick wall.I'm going to enjoy what time I have left.

Ed -- I appreciate your defense of pba, but go find the "Whos the Boss" thread -- it is in the NEWS section (unless he moves it at 839pm on 4/11/07) -- we didn't go to him he came to us...I kinda liked that thread -- it took me down memory lane....

I agree YankeeWitch -- I also got tired of pba's first respnse to anything I said being "YOu're a necon who is brainwashed" or "You're a right wing whatever" -- the name calling and bashing of my stance would start so why debate someone that can't do it without starting to make it personal...I wouldn't mind if the debate didn't become a bash of my opinion -- I am entitled to my opinion and so I just decided to stop as well .... for now at least...

Well, you can get directly involved in the process. It is surprising how great an effect you can have if you work from the inside. It is also amazing how much you have to compromise to reach a consensus even with a group of 20 or 30.
The reason politicians seem so wishy washy is they have to make compromises all the time.
Advocates, myself included, need not make any compromises. But we are not going to get the whole enchilada either.
My personal objection to Bush is his REFUSAL to talk to or listen to anyone.
Bush has had a rubber stamp congress for 6 years.
Clinton NEVER had a rubber stamp, and had only partial control for two years in his first term. After that it was constant give and take to get anything done at all.
I think that was a good thing, it drove all policy to the center. The decisive power in this country really rests in the center. People are historically pretty much satisfied with the way government works from the school board to the White House, but there are always issues to deal with.
The conflicts are what make the news, the agreements are either already in place, or get made easily.

I did not read that thread, Who's the boss till you suggested it, and I am REALLY confused now. The article pba posted from "Slate" was a blog entry concerning Monica Goodling. The first, and only responses I read to the posting were about a television program of the same name. I am barely familiar with the TV show, I have been a workaholic all my adult life.
I got in awful trouble when I was working in a TV news department. I admitted I did not own a TV set. But then one of my "most embarrassing moments" was the day I was stuck in traffic with a Radio Station Press card in the window of my car. People in the car next to me asked what the hang up was, and I had to admit there was no radio in my car.
As to defending pba. I don't defend pba. He can defend himself. I do find some of what he posts in line with my own thinking, but I really believe that pba is living in a fantasy world where roses last forever.
I am a LIBERAL, not a socialist. I believe you make peace by compromising. I oppose vehemently the Bush Doctrine of Domination. pba says all politicians are rotten. He is just plain wrong.
I actually believe that out of 535 members of Congress about ten are corrupt, and I don't know which ones, corruption tends to hide itself quite well. About 20 are just plain Stupid, and I wish that people would not vote for stupid. About 300 of them are seeking power. Only about 150 know that representing the people means looking out for the best interest of people. pba, like any good extremist wants it all his way. Life does not work like that. To get it all your way you have to browbeat people. I have time to do that to Southern Patriot, only because he has sufficient reason to see reason, and is honest enough to keep slugging away. He might win an argument with me some day. I happen to like you, and a few other people here who seem to be open minded, and more interested in analyzing the situation before jumping on the Faux News bandwagon. (I would mention the other side's band wagon but I can't figure out what represents it)
Try this, Sign up for Information Clearing House and read some of the Anti War articles. Get the daily e mail from BBC, it's free too.
When you see something pba posts, google the story. You will find a lot of material in most cases. pba might have a moderate source or a radical source, but they are out there.

One last thing, I do not give quarter. In a battle of wits with me, the red flag of Havoc is out. It makes no difference what gender, color, religion or nationality you are. I will pick my fights, but I don't get into them if I don't expect to win.
Ed that was the point -- he posted a political topic in the News section -- he's not new and he knows where it needed to be posted -- so with that title -- we thought must be mistaken and wanted to flash back to the 80s...Personally, I never even looked at the article....I am in nondebate mode these days -- I'm trying to enjoy the weather, my family, and life in and of itself and don't care to read political stuff...he didn't post it in politics so we made it news instead. Actually i think it was more Entertainment but it was fun all the same.

I can honestly see what he's trying to do, but they gave us the threads so that we could see News and Politics separately -- one of these days I'll decide I want to be political again and I'll join the fray again, but for now -- I'm having fun otherwise!!!!

Yep, it seems you are a big cry baby who enjoys making trouble for anyone. you don't no News when its news. You contradict yourself. You say you are not ready to talk politics, but yet you come to politics to read and reply. Don't make sense to me...
I would just like to say that I like the articles PBA posts. They are informative and interesting. Helps me catch up on things I missed. I also learned of a couple of good new sites from the posts, "Information Clearing House" and "Capital Blues."

I do agree though that PBA posts a lot of articles, but I like them. I don't have time to comment on all of them.

As some posters might already know I am a progressive liberal.

I have learned that many people change the subject when debating, either they run out of facts or it just drifts that way.

I also have a problem figuring out what is Politics and what is news.

When I read the paper they have the news section then the opinion page , editorials, articles and letters, which discusses the news. Which is what we do on the Forum. Discuss the news.

So whatever, I will post where ever and comment when I can. I just find it odd that of all the things to discussv so much time is spent on where it should go.

I generally stay out of the News Section since this one opened up. NashBama is right, I don't live in the area, and have no idea of conditions in the area.

Since it is IN THE POLITICAL AREA, I can only believe that it is, well, in the political area.

If I were paranoid and self centered, I would have assumed that it was posted in the News Forum so that I would be less likely to see it.

In fact, I occasionally put a news story into the news area that I have not seen in Times Daily. I have even started a thread or two there on news stories I have seen in Times Daily, but I don't get into debates over the local news.

But, I am FURIOUS with the people who seem to think they should be dictating where things should be posted. TimesDaily.com provides hard working moderators to maintain some semblance of order in the sand box.
Times Daily did us all a favor by creating this forum. At least they did me a favor, and I appreciate the efforts they make to keep it political. I don't want the moderators to start putting the NEWS stories I post to NEWS into politics because my name is on them. I don't want them to do that to pba either. Or you, or NashBama, or even Southern Patriot. There is a little yellow triangle at the bottom right of this posting, and every other posting. It has a purpose, USE IT. This is what you get when you click that little triangle

along with a text box.
I think you should use it because it would be much easier for the moderator to find political threads in the news section, and vice versa. It would also prevent clutter, and distraction.

but you have to admit that its comical how folks will get their panties twisted at the drop of a hat.
I get mine twisted real easy. "ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING."
