Who is "Plain"?
You sure that isn't Tina Fey? Since you libs seem unable to tell the difference...
After all, you guys did fall for the "I can see Russia from my house" skit!

Logic is lost. My point has been and still is this; if you're going to hold one person accountable for sins of the past, you must hold everyone accountable. Don't pick and choose because they do/n't belong to the same political party as you. Plus, she was open about it. She didn't try to hide it. Nobama was open about his cocaine use as well. Past drug use shouldn't be a factor. Doing stupid stuff while in office and LYING ABOUT IT should be. It's called integrity. O'Donnell obviously has integrity. Once again, accountability is for everyone, not just your "enemies."

You say she "was open about it." Piffle. It did not come out until after the primary election and then only because Bill Maher dug it up from his archives and posted it. At that point, she had no choice but to acknowledge her witchly past; they had it on tape in her own words.

Yeah. They were her own words on A NATIONALLY TELEVISED PROGRAM!!! How's that for being open. Your ability for sound reasoning goes out the window when you're wearing your politics mask. It also seems to me that YOU'RE the one who keeps screaming "Christian nation" this and "Christian nation" that. The fact is this country WAS founded upon Christian principles by Christian men and is evident in almost every aspect of early government, from official documents to currency. If you say it wasn't, you're lying or uninformed (polite speak for "ignorant"). Boy, when you pick a talking point, you stick with it and beat it into the ground. Libs need to do their own laundry before they worry about everyone else's. Take note.

You missed the point. Yes, she acknowledged her dabbling in witchcraft "in her own words," but those words never came out in during her campaign; they were re-discovered by Bill Maher from whatever archives they were stored in. So do not try to distort things to make it appear that she candidly acknowledged her witchcraft history as any part of her curriculum vitae in conjunction with the primary campaign. I suspect she was very much content to let that part of her personal history go un-noticed.

Wing of bat and eye of toad....Double, double, toil and trouble...

So, by your reasoning, every new political candidate should have his/her memoirs published prior to seeking public office. Your point is absurd at best.

There are 2 islands in the Bering Strait, Big Diomede and Little Diomede. Big Diomede is Russian and Little Diomede is US territory and considered part of Alaska. The islands are only about 2.5 miles apart. There are other parts of Alaska from which Russia can be seen. Who's dumb? Try researching something before you go buy your new car, the Government Motors Bandwagon.

ACTUAL:
GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.
I may not be the first, but let me be the next ..... to point out that the "claim" to be able to "see Russia from my house" was made - not by Palin but by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live.

MORE ACTUAL:

Yes. Russia and Alaska are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small, sparsely populated islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other. (To see the view of Big Diomede from Little Diomede, check out this webcam.) The Diomede Islands are often blanketed by persistent fog, which makes visibility difficult. On a clear day, though, a person standing at sea level can see a little less than three miles across the ocean. You can see farther if you go higher—at the highest altitude on Little Diomede (919 feet), you can see for about 37 miles. (Between mid-December and mid-June, when the water between the two islands freezes, an intrepid explorer can just walk from one to the other

You can also see Russia from other points in Alaska. According to a New York Times article written in the waning years of the Cold War (when the Alaska-Siberia border was known as the "Ice Curtain"), if you stand on high ground on the tip of St. Lawrence Island—a larger Alaskan island in the Bering Sea, southwest of the Diomedes—you can see the Russian mainland, about 37 miles away. The same article claims that you can see Russia from the Tin City Air Force facility at Cape Prince of Wales, which is the westernmost point of the mainland Americas. The station chief at Tin City confirms that, for roughly half the year, you can see Siberian mountain ranges from the highest part of the facility.

No Tomme, you miss my point. I am not saying it isn't true that you can see Russia from these islands. But it is VERY dumb to think that makes one qualified to deal in foreign policy! And THAT is the question she was answering with her statement.

Foreign policy. Funny you mention that. Well, lets just stick with qualifications in general. Since when did having qualifications matter? Obama is less qualified than Palin for POTUS, based on the liberal definition of what qualifies one for office. She actually has experience governing a state, not just as a community organizer. Plus, she's not all buddy-buddy with domestic terrorists. She also didn't attend a church for 20 years without having some kind of clue as to the REAL character of the pastor.
I find it very telling that any time someone points out that Palin is less than bright, all you Palin lovers can come up with is, "Yeah but Obama this and Obama that." It's sort of like when we were little kids who got caught with our hands in the cookie jar. Instead of admitting we snuck a cookie, we tended to say, "Well, but yesterday my brother took one."

We are not talking about Obama here. We are talking about Palin. I personally believe that Obama has about 75 IQ points on her, but that is NOT what the subject at hand is. The subject is, Palin's lame statement about her foreign policy credentials.

If you will look back through the string, you will see that all I was saying is that she did not publicly say anything about her witchcraft dabbling during her campaign, contrary to what another poster was trying to imply. Pay attention!

Subject: SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE

Before one might dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard consider this.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter terrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

She certainly had a chance. It was a question asked during an interview. And the part I quoted above would have been allowed. It would have made her look like she had SOMETHING on the ball. But instead she came out with the "see Russia" line that so many made fun of. And the magazine thing made her look even dumber. Maybe she just doesn't do well in interviews, but that in itself shows that she would not make a good vice-president, or God forbid, president. A world leader has to be able to think on their feet.

Alaskan governors are usually given Top Secret clearances, most other governors are not.

WELL BETTERN, I POSTED IT AS I FOUND IT!

And moby says it's a fake.

Although the link she posted to 'truth or fiction' said true, so ?????????????????????????

Sarah Palin's Security Clearance-Truth!

it says:

The Truth:
A local Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) public affairs representative in Los Angeles told TruthorFiction.com that elected government officials go through a security screening process but could not go into details as to the level of investigation or the security level given to any one official in particular. We have asked both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for further information on the level of security for governors.

The Los Angeles Times on September 6, 2008 reported that Governor Sarah Palin oversees military units whose duties include serving overseas as well as search-and-rescue (SAR) missions at Ft. Greely.

The LA Times article went on to say that the Alaska Air National Guard is 1,946 service member strong and has participated in several search-and-rescue missions. Since Palin's election in 2006 the Air Guard has flown 521 missions, saving 200 lives and assisting with the rescue of 77 more people. The foreign deployments of units and the operation of missile interceptors are not the responsibility of state governors. That comes down from the regular U.S. military chain of command.
Ft. Greely is located about 100 miles South East of Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1995 the base was slated for realignment by 2001 in but still remains open as a facility for Alaska National Guard, COLD REGIONS TEST CENTER (CRTC), Missle Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC).

The Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF) is a military police organization that was primarily created as a back up for the National Guard. According to their web site they work with primarily "State and local emergency management agencies in Homeland Security, disaster assistance, planning, exercises, and operations in response and recovery for both natural and man-made disasters."

The mission statement on their website states, "The Mission of the 49th Military Police Brigade is to maintain an organized and trained military force, capable of timely and effective response to State emergencies, or on occasions deemed appropriate by the Governor, to provide military assistance to civil and military authorities for Homeland Security and in the preservation of life, property, and public safety."
Governor Palin would only call upon them in case of an emergency.

The Missile Defense Agency, while also at Ft Greeley, is not the same as the 49th Military Police Brigade. She does not command the missile defense agency. To anyone with reading comprehension skills, her command of the Alaska National Guard is NO DIFFERENT than any other states' governor and she does not command "the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks." This rumor is either a gross exaggeration of facts or an all out fabrication. Either way, it is a factually inaccurate.

It's all just more evidence of the existence of PDS, Palin Derangement Syndrome. It seems to have arisen about the same time as the waning of BDS, Bush Derangement Syndrome, giving all the appearance of being a case of transference. The poor things can't help themselves. Wink

The example -> SARAH PALIN!

Good job! NOT!!!

Thats exactly right. Palin is the spokesperson/leader for a movement, but its not a political party, and this movement does not have any definable goals, or members, but people will pay her to talk about the movement/non-party. O'Donnell is the finished product of that exercise, which, in the end will result in another semi-socialist being elected to the Senate.

A really mean and smart pit bull goes over and urinates on the ground where the stake that holds the chain at the other end is buried. Putin is full of it and vinegar too...
I fail to understand the problem with someone who dabbled in witchcraft becoming a government official. Obviously, the Speaker of the House, Pelosi is another. The State Department is headed by another, as well. The more I learn of Hilary, the more I sympathize with Bill's cheating ways.

Besides, its Biden's old seat. He now holds the positions of VP, court jester and fool! Big Grin
The Republicans need to attack O'Donnell's opponent on his history.

From Byron York's article, I see Coons, a top executive of New Castle County, promised not to raise taxes. Since then, he has raised taxes three times and proposed even more.

After inheriting a surplus, he said his "top priority would be to continue balancing the budget without increasing property taxes." Then, proceeded in 2006 to push through a 5 percent increase in property taxes, in 2007 a 17.5 percent raise, and in 2009 another 25 percent raise.

He further proposed taxes on hotel bills, paramedic services, and on 911 calls from cell phones.

The Truth is out there.

By ANGIE BASIOUNY The News Journal WILMINGTON - New Castle County Executive Chris Coons unveiled a budget Tuesday night that tightens spending, draws on millions in reserve cash, raises sewer rates and nearly eliminates grants in an effort to control finances.
