I listen to a lot of sports talk on the radio. The announcers told how Americans would be glued to their tv sets watching the world cup soccer. I turned it on for about one minute, then turned on something else. Am I the only one not watching? I don't think so. Is anyone? If they would announce when that guy is gonna bite, I might watch that.

I tune in every four years to watch the World Cup. Contrary to what we may believe, soccer truly is popular around the world, and up to this point it has been the Europeans vs. the South Americans for dominancy. Africa and the US, as well as Asia are trying their best to be competitive. I find it interesting that the US coach is a former German soccer hero and now is coaching our team and will be playing the Germans for a spot in the final 16. Most find it boring, but to me it is far more interesting and strategic than basketball. I cannot stomach an NBA or college basketball game. I will be watching today's match and cheering for the US to pull it out or at least get a draw.
well put, teyates! GO USA!
Go USA, I hope you win, but I probably won't watch. I did read that the top paid soccer player made 80 dollars last year, somebody likes it
That was probably $80M jt, they certainly can make a ton of money. It was probably Christiano Reynoldo, he is the European favorite who plays for Portugal and scored against the USA with 15 seconds left which makes this game against Germany mean so much.
The Russian coash makes about $9M, more than any college football coach in the US, and they are like royalty.
Wish I would have paid more attention when I was a kid, playing soccer sounds like much more fun than working....haha
Game is over, and the US advances to the final 16 - the Sweetest 16 if you will. Proud of the US-German born coach and the team. They kept the game close, and lost to Germany, but beat who they needed to beat to get to the big dance.

You caught me, I forgot to put a word in that sentence.
No problem jt, we all leave out a word here and there. According to some of the recent squirrels, I am contributing to the downfall of America with my soccer favortism, but like I said the game is pretty simple while using some good strategy.
On top of that it goes two 45 minute halves WITH NO COMMERCIALS!!!!
Outside of boxing, I have never seen another player get bitten while playing....that was a first.
They don't stop the games for rain, and right now they are playing in the Amazon basin.
Rarely do you see a rcist radical jump outt on the field half naked with Heil hitler written on his chest and be beat down by the authorities.
Right now, it is certainly the best sport on television, but don't tell that to my wife who is an avid tennis fan and I have to share the TV with her while she watched Wimbleton....haha
This World Cup has been awesome.
People have been going nuts up here in Chicago for it. I was out on Sunday at one of the local bars watching the game and I have never heard a place erupt like that when the US scored those 2 goals. It was insane and a great time.
Can't wait for the game Tuesday. No Belgian Style beers or waffles for me until after that game!
