WOULD YOU VOTE FOR SCOTT CARRIER FOR MAYOR OF FLORENCE?

Since Uber mentioned it; I decided to conduct what I know is a very unscientific poll just to see the response. Personally, I haven't seen an elected official in the City of Florence with as much care for the citizens as Scott does in 20 years and would vote for him for ANYTHING, but just kind of testing the waters

Thanks to the 22 who voted. Scott is ahead and I think this would be the case if the election were held today. Unfortunately, we have to endure 2 more years of Bobby Irons and the rest of the "we voted the wrong bunch in" Hope we get some better candidates for Florence City Council and mayor (and I truly hope Scott runs) in 2008. Once again, thanks for taking the time to participate in the poll. THE DOG

MADDOG, sounds to me like Scott would do a great job, and has the right political ideas, if he doesn't get caught up into the political robot modes... but, alas, I cannot vote for him, I am not in that jurisdiction. Frowner But if I were, I would.

I can't believe anyone in there right mind would vote for Scott, What has he done for his district that he represents,What has he done for the city of Florence except try to block progress on anything the other council members try to work for and it is kinda funny to watch Him and Mrs. Pickens vote together, which she can't vote without looking for his approval. He would have to be more reliable to serve as Mayor and his attenance speaks for itself.

I can't believe anyone in there right mind would vote for Scott, What has he done for his District that he reprsents, What has he done for the city of Florence except to try to block progress the other Council members try to make and work for and it is kinda funny watching Scott and Mrs.Pickens working together, Which without looking for his approval or which way the wind is blowing Mrs.Pickens is the only way she can vote, Also Scott would have to be more reliable to serve as Mayor, Check his record it speaks for itself.

Scott fought the lunacy of plowing under a public park to put up retail shopping center so a few insiders can make a killing. What has Bobby Irons or the rest of the Florence City Council done to bring progress? They look like the same old thing. Scott knows the first thing that he has to do is fight off the old insiders who Iron's represents. Then we can get on with a new Florence that is good for everyone else. I think he is on the right track. I would hate to run against him. The people will back him and this time I think we have them outnumbered, outgunned, and outsmarted. Thank God for that.

Well, all I can say is Chop76 is THE ONLY one who has posted a bad word about Scott. Yes, Scott had a problem, took control of it, and sought treatment and it was from pain killers due to his knee surgery. Whatever it was, he NEVER quit fighting, and might I add SINGLEHANDEDLY for not only District 2 but the entire city. AS for you CHOP CHOP: TO ME Thank God and Greyhound you're gone! Hey Chop, first, Angie does not check with Scott to see how to vote. Her and him are on opposite sides of the Bass Pro/Veteran's Park issue. They agree sometimes, sometimes not. So you are full of bull saying that. Second, all you do is slander Scott. That says more about your character than his. Your small mind shows every time. If that is all you opponents of his are planning as a campaign against him then buckle up. You are in for the ride of your life. He will drub you. The people of Florence will rally to him like you ain't never seen. The Iron's camp is always whining about "negative" campaigning. That's because they can dish it out but can't take it. They are thin-skinned crybabies who will fold like an accordian. Scott can land a punch, to be sure, but he can take one too. That's what seperates the men from the boys. Your slander won't bother him. It will however get others fired up to make sure you and yours are trounced. What will Bobby Irons and other City Council people run on. All the good they are doing the people? Like selling them out to special interests? Like covering up for the old crooks and cronies? I will take Scott Carrier over that crap anyday. Your day is coming and so is Booby Irons. Just wait and see.

Hell yeah! Now that's EXCITING stuff! Not trying to patronize your post.....but, DANG, that's controlled passion I haven't seen in while! I think it is fantastic and I certainly agree with you.

Well the only thing I can say is Chop 760, who thank God and Greyhound I will never hear from again is THE ONLY person on this topic who had a bad word to say for Scott Carrier. Says a lot to me about the public's perception of Scott even after Bobby Irons tried to slander and discredit him. I think he is the ONLY true representative of the public interest in this city (Florence) in a LONG time and if he doesn't run for mayor, he would make a GREAT state representative! Whatever, I am just glad we had a councilperson like Mr Carrier on Pine Street! THE DOG

Carrier is a change agent. He is exactly what this city and area needs right now. We sure do not need more of the same old stuff. I like him and admire his nerve and courage. Sometimes the others look they don't know what hit 'em. That is healthy and fun to watch. Keep on truckin' Scott. A lot of people are with you. Believe it.

Looks like Scott has the VAST majority on this forum! One of the NO's is me, and I should not have put it there, (no way of changing that)... because I cannot vote for him, although I would if I could... sorry about that no vote... this is out of my jurisdiction.

I feel bad about it now... it should show 29 FOR, and 14 against and 1 undecided.

You got some pretty good participation here.

Cool I think JM could get a council position, depending on the district. Know what district he would fall under? I'd campaign for the first time! Thanks for clearing that Kindred-Spirit. So Booby Irons actually has one less vote than it shows. Right now it is 30-15-1 so it is really 31-14-1 Scott's favor. I think people know he is just a man of the people, no more, no less. He is not in the "cliques" and he is not impressed with the pretensions of Florence so he is not afraid to fight for what is right. He is his own man, he has faith, and he won't hoo-doo us. Irons has shown himself not to be what the myth says he is. That, along with Scott's authenticity makes people go to Scott. Scott Carrier will serve the people and thereby lead the people. Bobby Irons is serving himself and a few special interests. That is showing like it or not. This is going to get mighty interesting, and sticky too.

Scott has not said he is running for mayor or even city council again. I would not blame him if he said to heck with it. We'll see. I think all of this shows many people don't like what is going on and realize something is still wrong and want answers. Scott may want Mayor, he may not. Bobby is so worried about Scott he is tripping over himself. That's what happens. He says he is not worried but then acts like a nervous cat. I guess time will tell.

yes, i voted for him for mayor. its good to see people recognize jm,the kid has vision. several of his ideas for florence were really good, but i dont think he has much of a shot in politics as most dont see past the shaggy hair and beard; plus he's to straight forward and honest for politics. i do believe he could be utilized for the betterment of the shoals, he would be a great asset as director of tourism or something of similar capacity.

LOL, what a low blow if rehab is the ONLY thing they WANT to use against him... and that will backfire, people will respect him for his honesty and getting help... Not many people will hold it against us, since EVERYONE has some sort of problem. FAT-lose weight, DRINKING-recovery, DRUGS-recovery, CIGARETTES-Quit, with maybe help from the market... Everything has a price, and everyone has a problem!
