I do agree that there needs to be some new blood. The only problem that I have with these types of posts is that most folks can find the negative but never mention any positives. They may be few and far between but surely there is something.... Also, stop complaining and do something about the problems. There are alot of folks that can sit and talk all day about this and never have one idea of what needs to be done to correct the porblems. It is time that the citizens of FLorence stand together, get involved and stay informed....

I'm not sure which is more ironic: the fact that you never "mention any positives" here, or the fact that you're complaining about complainers.
Either way, I don't think it's safe to assume that because people post their opinions here in a forum that they are not doing anything to address the problems. Because of anonymity, there is no reason to assume that the voices here are not the exact same ones you are thinking about when you think of those citizens who "stand together, get involved, and stay informed." I personally led an effort that made a positive change in Florence. That task took months to accomplish, along with numerous calls to the mayor, every council member, the local paper, and everyone else in the community I could think of that might be able to contribute ideas or help the situation in some way. Meetings were held and words were exchanged. Finally, the effort was successful. I know there are others here who have done the same. We may be the ones sitting next to you in the council meeting.
Further, this forum IS a way of people staying informed. Despite the negatives, it does allow each of us to have one more perspective on what some members of our community are thinking and allows us to share ideas with people with whom we might not otherwise meet in our day-to-day lives.
