His quote from this Timesdaily article:

*****
"Sen. Bobby Denton, D-Muscle Shoals, said he does not support the bill allowing voters to decide if they want legalized gambling because he does not want gambling statewide."
*****

"...ALLOWING VOTERS TO DECIDE..."

Wow...just wow...My apologies to Sen. Denton if the Timesdaily took you out of context, because it's not a direct quote. But I don't know how it could be any betting in context.

Not wanting THE VOTERS to decide because YOU don't want statewide gambling.

No matter how you feel about the gambling issue...that is just offensive.

Okay, using your premise, if a single legislator thinks ALL statewide taxes should be spent only in Montgomery - take it to a public vote.

If a single legislator thinks all dumping of rubbish on the side of the road is okay - take it to a public vote.

If a single legislator thinks we should bomb Mississippi - take it to a public vote.

Silly points...but, yes I guess.

Renegade, my point was that legislators decide - all the time - to endorse or oppose an issue based on a variety of reasons. If you disagree with Mr. Denton, you need to make sure he knows that you and others do so.

Fair enough...but what I don't like...if you read the article...several reps are introducing bills to put the gambling issue to a vote. Bedford in the Senate and Black in the House. But according to what The Timesdaily is reporting, Denton is opposing the bills to ALLOW a VOTE...by the people. Not is he just opposed to gambling...whatever fine...but he's also opposed to letting THE PEOPLE decide.

Whether in Washington or Montgomery...to me that is just more of the same arrogance some congressmen have.
