What would Bear Do?
The late great Paul "Bear" Bryant had a well-deserved reputation as a strict disciplinarian.
Today's Times Daily, along with the Huntsville network TV channels reported the arrests of three UNA football players, including the team's starting quarterback, for violating the laws governing use of alcohol by under-aged persons.
UNA's coach, Bobby Wallace, promptly announced that the layers will not be suspended, and that "We are going to take care of it internally."
The external "taking care of it" will be carried out ion the Florence Municipal Court. The violations are considered misdemeanors, and carry possible penalties of fines and jail time.
To those of you who are old enough to remember or who otherwise are familiar with Coach Bryant's approach to discipline, do you believe that he would have decided in such a case to permit the offending players to go ahead and suit up for the next game?
