The throwback naysayers and knee-jerk wingnuts who know almost nothing about climatology but who take their cues from cretins like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mick Huckabee, and Fox News should read the information in the link below, which documents the full scope of climatological factors involved in the assessment of Global Climate Change.

Really? The ones YOU listen to, and you, know it all? How about the naysayers that don't listen to rush, sean, huckabee and fox news?  Talk about a knee-jerk wingnut, look in the mirror.

A civilization that occupied areas of modern-day Pakistan and India may have declined, at least in part, due to an extreme bout of climate change, researchers at the University of Cambridge argue in a study.

This is not to say that the event was brought on by global, or even localized, warming, but by an abrupt weakening of the summer monsoon, which occurred 4,100 years ago. The traces left behind by this event are visible even now, the research team reveals in a paper published in the journal Geology.

The weak summer monsoon affected northwest India the most, and led to significant droughts that most likely created widespread famine. Even if a direct causal link is not found between this event and the decline of the Indus Civilization, the fact remains that the two phenomena coincide remarkably well.

Unlike other cultures, the Indus Civilization was capable of building metropolises, and spanned parts of northern India and most of modern-day Pakistan. The conclusions in this new study may suggest that climate change is one of the main reasons why many large, ancient cities fell into ruin.

<big class="storyhed">Climate Change Linked to Civilization Collapse</big>

Two scientists have linked climate variations to the collapse of societies around the globe. Sometimes slight, sometimes intense, the scientists argue in a recent issue of the journal Science that the changes were enough to forever alter the lifestyles of the people living under changed conditions.

A Culture Killer

An article in a 1995 issue of Nature pointed to drought as one cause of the demise of the Maya civilization. Its writers argued that internal factors, including population growth and environmental degradation, worked with climate change and led to the Maya collapse.

Last month's Science article, coaut****d by Harvey Weiss of Yale University and Raymond Bradley of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, explored other prehistoric, ancient, and premodern societies, and found natural climatic variations often corresponded with the societies' collapse.

In Mesopotamia, a canal-supported agricultural society collapsed about 3,400 years ago. The paleoclimatic record, write the authors, suggest a severe 200-year drought may have caused the society to collapse.

With wetter conditions, civilizations thrived in the Mediterranean, Egypt, and west Asia. Ten years after their economic peak in 2300 B.C., however, catastrophic drought and cooling hurt agricultural production and caused regional abandonment and collapse.

When has the climate not changed?

And THAT is all you can say following your careful, point by point review of the material I so generously submitted for your continuing education?

How about Black Guy Sylvester James Gates? He supports Obama. You might learn something here if you have other than an attention span of a two year old. http://www.c-span.org/video/?3...-physicist-jim-gates

I must remind, that the National Geographic is not a science journal but simply a rag that makes things up to sell copies. Most articles are so corrupted with misinformation that they leave the reader no closer to the truth than before they read it. Stanky’s post is a prime example and it has further affected another goober whose only intent could be mutiny from actual facts.  Alas, together, the two of them will be just as lost from the truth since neither one of them can recall whether or not, nor from whom if, they may have learned any art of navigation about the subject at hand..

The Geographic has pretty pictures and some interesting stories but they are definitely not a science journal. A few years back they were terribly embarrassed because they published an article that got quite lyrical about the evolutionary implications of a fossil that they ballyhooed as some kind of transitional form between dinosaurs and birds.  The "fossil" turned out to be an assemblage of several unrelated fossils to create a fraud that some institution purchased from an enterprising Asian scam artist.

Skeptical Science is a climate alarmist website created by a self-employed cartoonist, John Cook. It is moderated by zealots who ruthlessly censor any and all form of dissent from their alarmist position. This way they can pretend to win arguments, when in reality they have all been refuted. The abuse and censorship does not pertain to simply any dissenting commentator there but to highly credentialed and respected climate scientists as well; Dr. Pielke Sr. has unsuccessfully attempted to engage in discussions there only to be childishly taunted and censored while Dr. Michaels has been dishonestly quoted and smeared. The irony of the site's oxymoronic name "Skeptical Science" is that the site is not skeptical of even the most extreme alarmist positions.

John Cook is now desperately trying to cover up his background that he was employed as a cartoonist for over a decade with no prior employment history in academia or climate science.

Thanks to the Wayback Machine we can reveal what his website originally said,

"I'm not a climatologist or a scientist but a self employed cartoonist" - John Cook, Skeptical Science

I'll take National Geographic over the publications youse "enlightened" people use!

Quoting politicians to prove many of them are idiots is, many times, a redundancy.

From the Democrats

House committee meeting, Rep. Hank Johnson said he feared that stationing 8,000 Marines on Guam would cause the island to "become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize."

1.“The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature.”

Nice. The only problem is the Old Testament contains no such quote.

2. “Every week we don’t pass a Stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.”

Yeah, she actually said that.

3.“Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program”

Imagine how many jobs we could create if everyone quit their jobs!    Wait…..

4. “I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels.”

Needless to say, natural gasis a fossil fuel.

Then there are those like Reid who simply lie-- Mitt Romney pays no taxes

Slightly up the food chain, there's VP Biden, whose every utterance causes the WH to shutter.

Yes, climate change and extremes in climate caused the demise of cultures.  Many of the cultures of the SW US left magnificent ruins and traces of complicated agriculture.  However, droughts wiped them out time and again,  Now as California suffers from a similar drought, its global warming that's to blame.  As was mentioned earlier, the Mayans suffered from drought as well Add, incessant warfare and only one Mayan city was fully occupied by the time of the Spaniards.

Within the last 2,000 years we have evidence of two warming periods -- the Roman and medieval warming periods and one cooling period -- the little ice age.  The present warmists have gone as far as to attempt to deny these period ever existed.

I doubt if you have proof dire. if so give it up, we are well past tree rings and sediments at local occurrences. Tell us again how lightning replaces the ozone layer.

So, the UN is either incompetent (we'd agree on that) or is controlled by the energy industry -- really!

So, do you deny there were major climate changes in the not so distant past -- Roman and Midieval warms and little ice age, for which there is physical, as well as, historical evidence and other changes for which we have archaeological evidence?

I don't deny them at all.  None of them progressed with the rapidity we are seeing in the current era. Global CO2 production has never been shown to have increased as rapidly in the past as it is today.  Still not gonna address the substance of the piece I posted?  Total warming trumps sector change and is the superior indicator.

The graph shows an extreme rise in global ocean temperature, but without actual temperature changes.  The actual change was rather slight.  This does not correlate to supposed energy absorbed.

"Over the period 1961 to 2003, global ocean temperature has risen by 0.10°C from the surface to a depth of 700 m."

http://www.global-greenhouse-w...sea-temperature.html

At least 73 climate models have failed.

http://www.thegwpf.org/epic-fa...els-vs-observations/

Your statement "Global CO2 production has never been shown to have increased as rapidly in the past as it is today" can't be substantiated as there were no measurements until the late modern era.

As I posted earlier, the UN , amongst others, have issued warning after warning of imminent catastrophe due to global warming, yet none have emerged.  Yes, there are a number of reports with graphs and statistics to backup those predictions.

For forty years I read reports with financial statements to backup their statements.  While most were true, there were those that proved as false as those predicting disaster.  Only difference is that the global warmists are still collecting a government grant.  The other guys have free lodging and meals provided by the government -- near Bernie Madoff.

As the old saying goes, fool me once shame on me, fool me a dozen times, I must be a liberal.
