Hmmm, out today and didn't see any war, saw christmas decorations all over the place, and in the stores along with christmas music blaring. Everyone saying merry christmas and happy holidays.
I was in BestBuy a few days ago & 2 of the songs playing was Silent Night & Come All Ye Faithful. In Wal-mart in Florence I heard Little Drummer Boy, at K-mart I heard Bells of St. Mary. Many people in passing said Merry Christmas & the ones I said it to returned the greeting.
Holiday is a old English term for Holy Day, for which their are several during this period. The people who keep getting upset that Jesus isn't being mentioned above everyone else are largely the same people who try to find the negative in everything so they can insist that they are being persecuted.
holy cow! fox news entertainment thinks there is a war on christmas... get your gun, granny!
And of course, hearing this all over the place too.

Prospero año y felicidad.

Ayuh. LOL! This one, too:
I wonder how many thousands of christmas parades, programs, plays, movies, tv shows, there are at this time of the year? Christmas themed shows and messages are all over TV, in stores, you name it, and they start them as early as october in a lot of places, but still some want to claim there's a "war on christmas". A day that was picked to celebrate, and the country and most of the world stops for it. What more do they want?
cnn declared world peace on christmas
Try telling these folks that Christianity ISN'T 'under attack: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2...7/?intcmp=latestnews
The major religion in Iraq is Islam, followed by about 97% of Iraqis.

That's christianity in iraq that is under attack. That's not christmas per se. And, one thing christians claiming attack or persecution in the US refuse to see or acknowledge, you keep harping on putting religion into areas it does not belong, such as schools and public areas, and you'll have the muslims right there with you. How you would avoid that is one question christians refuse to answer. I ask over and over and over, which religion do you want taught in schools? Which prayers do you want at ballgames, city council meetings? As far as islam in the US, the genie is out of the bottle on that one, and can't be put back. All you do is give them more strength.
I'll repost this because I would like an answer, but I don't expect to get one. Anyway:

To be recognized as professional victims, apparently...
nothing in that article said anything about Christmas, it was all about separation of church and state, that happens year round, but when it happens in December, its dubbed "war on Christmas" for what ever reason.

yes, christians are literally the only ones that have ever been attacked, and have NEVER provoked an attack.
When did Happy Holidays-Seasons Greetings become taboo? Look at old christmas cards from the 40s, 50s, 60s, on up and probably older, and you will see many that said Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings. But all of a sudden something is wrong with those greetings, and only Merry Christmas is acceptable?
1) holiday is an old English term for holy day. So it's a lovely expression to me. I don't get upset when someone says it.
2) I love all the vintage cards. I can look at those for hours. Such fun.
I like looking at all the vintage stuff too, the toys, recipes, all that kind of stuff. I like listening to the older folks talk about their christmases when they were kids. Now, today, people have gone crazy about it and most people dread it. And, like pooch posted, every december we have to to through that "war on christmas" mess. You can see/read it all over. Someone declares, "the clerk said happy holidays to me and I just told them flat out, it's merry christmas! I won't ever shop there again because they refuse to say merry christmas". War on christmas, again, where?
