Reply to "Abraham Obama?"

quote:
For the past several months the media have reported stories of how much President-elect Barack Obama admires the book Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns-Goodwin, the theme of which is what an incredible political conniver, manipulator and string puller Abraham Lincoln was. Goodwin uses more euphemistic language, but that indeed is the theme of the book by the confessed plagiarist Goodwin.

Hi Miami,

Personally, I thought that the book "Team of Rivals" was a great book. I have a pretty good library of books about Lincoln; and I felt her book gave good insight on Lincoln, his cabinet, and the war. Whether she plagiarized some of it or not -- it was still a great read. Is Obama another Lincoln? Not in this lifetime!

Regarding FDR -- I, too, believe he, along with World War 2, brought us out of the depression. However, like all Democrats -- he did not know when to quit giving once he got his welfare state started.

It is the same old story: Give a guy a fish today and tomorrow he will be back for another. Teach the guy to fish and he can feed his whole family without you. Sounds like a plan to me. Unfortunately, we have the Welfare State Builders in power now. So, watch out -- they will be lining up for their daily fish.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
