Verne Troyer - aka "Mini-me" from Austin Powers movies
Aparently another Hollywood suicide is making the news today with Verne Troyer's announced death, although no real cause is listed. It wasn't too long ago that Robin Williams suicide was announced and there are plenty more stories and most likely they will continue.
I was just reading April 3rd how a friend of Verne's called 911 account he was saying that he was over abusing alcohol and was suicidal to which the first responders did commit Verne for a 48-hour hold and treatment. I don't know how much of Verne's money was left from his Movie and TV jobs but Hollywood always presents us with examples of how money doesn't make a person happy or solve all their ills. Sometimes I think all that fame and wealth actually amplify problems that people have. You start reading about what all his friends and co-stars have to say in their words of condolence but you wonder if any of them actually attempted to reach out to the person after it was reported of their problems and before their eventual death? Then some of those, like Robin Williams, keep everything inside and don't tell anyone of the demons that they are wrestling with.
I hated to hear about Verne and thought he did a good job portraying the character that they hired him for in the Austin Power's movies but I also know that alcohol changes people and often times or more time into something that is very ugly and unlikable. I'm not for the elimination of alcohol as in prohibition but I look and see all this talk and protest about guns blaming them for the school shooting deaths when far more families, innocent lives, and homes are ended and killed by alcohol abuses and by far more people yet you don't see all the activity and protest over drunk driving or binge drinking or putting limits on alcohol that people can purchase or consume. Wonder why that is?
