Ivanka Marie Trump (/iˈvɑːŋkə/; born October 30, 1981) is an American businesswoman and former fashion model who is currently an advisor to President Donald Trump. She is the daughter of the president and his first wife, former model Ivana Trump.

Trump has been an executive vice president of her father's company – The Trump Organization – as well as serving as a boardroom advisor on her father's TV show The Apprentice.[2] She moved to Washington, D.C in January 2017 as her husband, Jared Kushner, was appointed as a Senior Advisor to the President of the United States by her father.

Starting in late March 2017, Trump began serving in her father's administration as assistant to the president. She assumed this official, unpaid federal government position after multiple ethics concerns were raised about her access to sensitive material while not being held to the same ethics restrictions as a federal employee.[3][4] She is considered part of her father's inner circle.[5]

Ivanka Marie Trump was born in Manhattan, New York City, and is the second child of Czech-American model Ivana Marie (née Zelníčková) and Donald John Trump, who in 2017 became the 45th President of the United States.[6] Her father has German[7] and Scottish ancestry.[8] The name Ivanka is a diminutive form of Ivana.[9] Trump's parents divorced in 1991, when she was ten years old.[6] She has two brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric; a half sister, Tiffany; and a half brother, Barron.

Trump attended the Chapin School in Manhattan until she was 15, when she transferred to Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she characterized its "boarding-school life" as being like a "prison", while her "friends in New York were having fun".[10]

After graduating from Choate,[11] she attended Georgetown University for two years, then transferred to the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, from which she graduated *** laude with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2004.[12][13]

Trump is bilingual, speaking English and French, and has an elementary knowledge of her mother's native language of Czech.[11][14][15]

Before joining the family business in 2005, Trump briefly worked for Forest City Enterprises.[16] In 2007 she formed a partnership with a diamond vendor, Dynamic Diamond Corp., to create Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry, a line of diamond and gold jewelry, sold at her first flagship retail store in Manhattan.[17][18] In November 2011, Trump's retail flagship moved from Madison Avenue to 109 Mercer Street, a larger space in the fashionable Soho district.[19][20] On October 2, 2015, retail website racked.com reported that "Ivanka Trump's flagship store on Mercer Street appear[s] to be closed" and, noting that the shop had been "stripped clean", said that it is unclear exactly when the shop stopped doing business.[21] As of October 2016, though, the company's website lists Trump Tower as its flagship boutique and its only dedicated retail shop, with the brand also available at fine-jewelry stores throughout the US and Canada, as well as in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.[22]

The Wharton Club of New York, the official alumni association of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for the New York metropolitan area,[23] gave Trump the 2012 Joseph Wharton Award for Young Leadership, one of their four annual awards for Wharton alumni.[24]

Trump is currently Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at the Trump Organization.[citation needed] In December 2012, members of 100 Women in Hedge Funds elected Ivanka Trump to their board.[25]

Trump has her own line of fashion items, including clothes, handbags, shoes, and accessories, which is available in major U.S. department stores.[26]
