Reply to "Cheney trots out the 'you're with us or you're a traitor' rhetoric"

Ed. The problem I have with the "paternal gov't" is their inherent, bureaucratic lack of monetary fiscal responsibility. Just to use the latest defense bill as an example (lets not debate the bill itself right now, that's another matter entirely), there are massive amounts of our money (billions of $'s) going to such things as spinich farmers in CA and tree replacement god knows where. I don't understand why OUR federal tax $'s need to go to these purposes. Why can't the state of CA use their own local taxes to pickup their own spinich farmers. If the bowl weavil hits cotton in AL then AL should pick up the tab to help their farmers. Our gov't spends 200+ M$'s of our money for a bridge to no where. The federal gov't has way too much power over our lives. They need to return some of that power to the states who can manage their local issues a whole lot better than people 1000 miles away in DC.
