Reply to "Creationist Fallacies"

believing in a creator isn't stupid.

allowing that belief to blind you to the simple factual realities of science and education is what makes the 'stupid' word come out.

going into a cathedral carved from stones that are millions of years old, while insisting the earth was made 6k years ago is stupid.

not taking your child to the hospital because you know the lord will provide any healing the child needs is stupid.

saying that the bible is the direct literal word of god, because the bibles TELLS us that it is is stupid.

interpreting scripcture to prove your point and then claiming that the bible is the literal word of god is stupid.

believeing in god, and the bible and jesus, in and of themselves, is not stupid.

discounting reality because it conflicts with what the book tells you is stupid.

Inventing 'truth' to make the bible right and science wrong is also stupid, of the highest order.

"when god created the world, he created so that it was already billions of years old."

that sentance, said to me by a CoC preacher when i was a child, might be the grandfather of stupid.

at 8 years old or so that sentance jarred me hard and made me think  "wait... why would he do that? that doesnt' make any sense? there would be no reason for god to do that. is this old man just makin stuff up as he goes?"

but to be fair.. i don't know that such a blatently ignorant idea is even being taught anymore.. it was, but i can't say if it still is. does any one know for sure? i hope not.
