I'm not commenting on lexum's post directly, but will make a comment concerning the "empirical" knowledge used in textbooks today. When I was in college the first time, I was taught that 28 genes controlled skin color. When I returned to nursing school, approximately ten years ago, I was taught that the "latest" thinking was that six genes control skin color. Recently, while studying another nursing topic, I saw a third number mentioned. I did not have the time to follow through with that in order to see if there are new theories/knowledge, etc.
Bottom line: We know very little and atheists condemn others for believing in God, but seem to follow whatever new theory is in style this nanosecond.
