Make sure you are connected to the output on the DVD player and the input on the cable box. Yellow is video, red and white are audio.

On the input of the cable box, look to see what input it is. It should say something like "Video 1" or "Aux 1". Change your input to that on the remote.

If that doesn't work, your TV should have secondary inputs. Connect the DVD player directly to the TV. Then make sure you are changing to the correct input using your TV remote and not the cable remote.
