The Iraqi leaders haven't asked us to leave. The "testy" remarks from Maliki are in response to people saying they aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing. They don't want us to leave YET. Yes, they are tired of us being there, who wouldn't be tired of military from another country being everywhere in your country? But they know that for now it is necessary.
As far as being over there for oil. Yeah? Oil like it or not is an essential for our country's life to continue as we know it. The Military is here to protect our interests. I could just imagine the MAJOR complaining if there was gas at $8 a gallon because we didn't want to go into Iraq.
K S I know you say you talk to some soldiers who are over there. I can give you names of hundreds who are over there now also that do not agree with what you say your soldiers are saying...
Then I guess your Soldiers and my Soldiers will agree to disagree to put this all behind us and build up AMERICA once again.
I used to have 11 on email that were in Iraq, now I have about 30. I hear from each one of them about 2 times a week, some every day. I also have a few friends who are on the Soldier email list to help keep them company and offer nice comforting words.
I guess if I were to go around and gather names, we would probably be even. But I respect the opinions of yourself and your list of Soldiers.
The thing is, I talk to these people a LOT, and I have talked to several who are now at home, and what they say EVEN NOW as to what they said in email is much more negative.
You give the impression that all our Troops are just glad to be there, but they aren't. They are glad to be serving the Country they Love, but just like you, and just like me, THEY have their opinions too.
The VAST majority of this country is of the belief that Bush/Cheney and Co. opened a can of worms that not many know how to ease out of.
But bottom line is, I pray to God that he keep each and every one of our Troops safe, and He holds them near and dear to His heart!!! They shouldn't have to be there anymore.
If there leaders did NOT want us to leave, then WHY are they coming out on the news SAYING so. I think we should respect their leadership and do as they ask.
