Nashville Preparing to Become Most Liberal Sanctuary City in the U.S.
Listening to a Nashville Radio station late last month is when I first was made aware of the City ordinances/bills in which two Metro Council members were drawing up for the Metro Council to vote into enactment, for Nashville and Davison County, Tennessee.
“Two ordinances filed by Metro Councilmen Bob Mendes and Colby Sledge, drafted with the assistance of the TN Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) and cheered on by Mayor Megan Barry, will make Davidson County and Metro Nashville the most liberal sanctuary city in the U.S.; in fact, even more liberal in its policies than New York City or San Francisco".

At first, when listening to WTN- 99.7 FM Station, I thought it was just a Spoof Segment to rouse attention to their show. The more I listened, Turned out to be a Real “Change of Life” for Citizens of Nashville/Davison County. Draft was about to be enacted into Law by Metro Council, supported & encouraged by Mayor Megan Barry to Challenge the federal immigration laws already on the books, regarding illegals. Seems the ordinance/law would Not Allow the use of city/county jails or money to used as aid to Federal agencies from, holding criminal illegal immigrants for deportation by ICE. Or a county employee could not "ask" if a person is here illegality or such inquire about that person.
From what I heard, from people calling into the station during the morning show. 90% of the callers were Extremely Upset & rightfully so. There were a few who were OK with the move toward being a “Sanctuary City”, even with the troubles associated with folks not wanting to assimilate to the American way of Life & laws or committing a few crimes along the way, while here illegally.
If Nashville initiates, then who’s Next… Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, or Loretto,TN….
How did Nashville get to this point? From Music Row to Sanctuary Row…Doesn’t sound like, in the future, a very Safe place to Visit any more.
